Can you put international letters in the drop box or do you need to give them to USPS employees for approval? I have a letter I need to get mailed to Canada. The post office is closed for the weekend, but the drop box outside the building gets picked up on Saturdays. Could I just put a few stamps on it and put the letter in the box just like a domestic letter? Or are those boxes only for domestic stuff? In the past I've always just took the letters inside, but I wasn't able to get there before they closed today and I really need to get this mailed.
Final Rating of the test for USPS employees? I took the test for USPS employees on Sep.9, recently I received the mail from them. It says your Final Rating is 72.70. My question is: Is 72.70 excellent? better? good? so-so? or no hope to be employed?
What kind of QDRO can I ask for in a Maryland divorce involving a USPS employee? I am filing for an Absolute Divorce this week in the state of Maryland. We have been married 16 years and have one young child. He is a US Postal employee with a pension and TSP. What can I expect if I ask for a part of his pension in a QDRO in this situation? He has been with the USPS since 1999. I have worked outside of the home almost our whole marriage, but currently work for myself and have no retirement acct. Thanks.
Can USPS Employees smoke while on the job? Curious if any one knows if USPS workers can smoke while delivering mail? For the last few weeks, all of our mail has had a smokey smell to it. Today she was driving here little USPS and puffing away on her smokes. Is this allowed? Hi Meow. Please stick to the question!!! My mail smelling like smoke is an issue for me. I don't smoke and do not care to smell it! I feel I'm not alone in this as nearly EVERYWHERE is now non-smoking!! Please stay on topic!

What is involved in being a USPS employee? I was thinking about working as a mail man once I graduate from High School this coming June. What is required to be a mail man, and what are the chances I would get hired. This is in Texas BTW, Conroe Texas to be more exact.
The US Postal Service did not deliver a package (USPS Employees Please?)? I paid the US Postal Service to deliver a package (mailed priority, in a priority shipping box). The cost was over $10. That was nearly two months ago. It never arrived, we assumed it was stolen. Yesterday, the box arrived back at my house marked "undeliverable". The address is a valid one (it's my daughter's), we double checked everything about the address and no problems. It had two dates they "attempted delivery" -- both this month! And yet there was no need to do anything but leave the box -- there was no insurance, no delivery confirmation, no signature required. Strangely, there was a white sticker (postal service type, easily peeled off - like they use to print bar codes on) over the address, presumably put there by the postal service. Dear Postal Carriers...any idea what went wrong, and is there any possibility of a refund? Naturally we lost all the perishable items that were in the box, but gosh, I paid over $10 in postage and it was gone for two months. All good suggestions but... "if there was not a metered postage on the parcel,.." It was metered, and sent in person from a post office at the counter. "it may have been the letter carrier felt the package could not be left in a safe place..." Parcel should have been placed aside of mailbox which is on the covered porch. Driveway is not gated, no dogs present, not a rural area, a generally known "safe" area. The carrier on this end could not fathom why it was not delivered (he hand delivered it back to us). " you can;t just toss it out on the side of the road, near the house..." Mailbox located on a covered porch and all letters and prior parcels arrived safely. Still a mystery to me.
Question about Paypal Claims Dispute process for item stolen by USPS employees? Long story short. I sold an iphone on ebay. I sold it to someone out of the country and on ebay I said that the buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. The buyer chose to use the cheapest First Class mail. When I dropped the box off, the post office told me that delivery confirmation nor insurance was available for First Class Mail so the box was not insured. Low and behold, someone at the post office got sticky fingers, opened the box, stole the phone, and used brown tape to tape it back up and the buyer got the box with no phone inside. Both sides have shared our story with Paypal. We are waiting on them to decide who will get their money back. Paypal took the money back out of my account and they are holding onto it pending investigation. The post office says, sorry, we can't help you, you didn't pay for insurance. Has anyone had a similar story like this one and what was the outcome? The buyer sent me pictures of the box. It had different color tape on it. Thats how I know the Post Office opened it and took the phone out. You idiot. You crack me up! Ha ha ha ha
I am currently a USPS employee and have a few questions pertaining to other positions.? Ok I am currently a mailhandler with the USPS, and I started on October 31, 2007, and I am really interested in being a rural carrier until I could become a career city carrier once that exam become available. I already applied last night to take the rural carrier exam. For example although I just started, if the rural exam was given in January and i took it and score very high on it and was offered employment could I accept it? st tell me how would that work exactly?
Anyone else had postal employees 'borrow' their Netflix movies? All other mail to same destination takes 1 day. Mail from Netflix, one day. Movies returned to Netflix, sometimes take 7-15 days to get back there. No other mail ever gets delayed that long. Seems USPS employees are opening the mail, borrowing the DVDs, then returning them. i can't prove it legally, but i know it. also dvds ship first class return mail about 20 milse should take 2 days max. immediate change in processing time - that's a good one. tried to get my old incompetent post guy fired - supervisor admitted the guys mistakes, said it's almost impossible to get anyone fired at usps. nothing happend to the moron.
how long does USPS parcel post take from california to florida? okay my package is very important.i checked that status and it was accepted on the 7th of december and its now the 19th of december..is this normal or abnormal? im worried a usps employee stole it and or its lost..or am i being paranoid because i never had to wait this long for anything.. its still to this date still says the status is acceptance and yet has not changed..
How do you land a job as a Transitional Employee for the USPS? Is there an exam that is given out or what? I went into my local post office and asked when the next postal exam was and she told me about Transitional Employees, this was my first time hearing about them. Can someone tell me how I would go about becoming one?

When will USPS hire career employees? Right now the postal service is not hiring any career positions, only Temporary Employment, Rural Carriers, Part Time Floaters, etc. My husband has been a TE for 2 years, working 6 days a week with no vacation, sick leave, benefits, etc. When he started this job he was told that when a career position opened up, he would be able to apply for it. To date, no position has become available. There are some people who have been doing this job for over 6 years, with no benefits at all. I want to know if there are any other postal employees in this position or ever were who got onto a career position. What can we expect? Thanks.
What is a Transitional Employee for USPS? I applied for a position as City Carrier transitional employee about 2 month ago. Well today I got a letter in the mail saying that I need to report to my local post office for an interview. My questions for everyone is what exactly does this job consist of? I mean like hours, pay, benefits, job responsibilities, etc... I realize they will probably tell me most of this at the interview but if anyone could give me a heads up I would appreciate it. Thanks
How do I change my business address to a personal address through USPS? I am moving from Colorado to Pennsylvania. The address I currently receive mail through is the business address for the company I work for, however, it is also the home address for me and a number of employees who work and live here on the property. USPS says they can't change the address and the company has to forward it. Any thoughts on how I can change my address through USPS??
What to do when former employees move and I need to deliver W-2's? I have 2 former employees who have apparently moved since they were in my employ at the beginning of 2007. Their W2's were returned by USPS marked "Attempted Not Known" and "No Such Number" (I have previously mailed to the latter address). What is my obligation at this point to hunt these people down and deliver the W2's and can you point me to the documentation on this? Thanks.
Do you have to hand pre-paid thick envelopes to a USPS employee, or can you put them in the drop box? I'm an Ebay seller and sell quite a few items on a regular basis. I use the USPS feature built into Ebay to print my USPS shipping labels directly through Paypal. So the postage is already paid on them. I use the typical bubblewrap 4 inch x 7 inch small cushioned mailers that you can buy at just about any retail store. I securely tape the pre-paid USPS label on it, and so far, I've been dropping them off to USPS employees at the counter. But my only local post office always has a HUGE line at it, because they are always understaffed. Can I put these pre-paid ones in the drop box for thick envelopes/packages? I've never tried it, and I was just wondering. However, I don't want to lose an item if that's the wrong place. Thanks.
What are the USPS stated goals for the delivery of periodicals like newspapers? What management objectives does the U.S. postal service use in order to govern its employees in the handling of periodicals (magazines, newspapers, etc.) within a reasonable time? I have heard it is seven days from day of receipt by USPS to delivery to USPS/periodical customer, but am unable to confirm that time period.
How to file a report on a USPS Mail Deliverer? I'd like to know how to file a report (preferably E-MAIL) on a USPS Mail Trucker driver / Deliverer, for lack of knowledge of a better name/word. Lets just say he wasn't very caring/careful about things and people around him. The official USPS has a 'File a Complaint' tab but that section is specifically complaints on the mail, not the employees. Thanks in advanced for your answers and help :)
How do you file a claim against the usps for loss of mail resulting in a $240.00 loss? I AM WRITING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SERVICE OF THE USPS.MY LOCAL POST OFFICE LOST A PACKAGE THAT WAS WORTH $240.00.THE POSTMASTER ACTUALLY CONFESSED TO ME RIGHT THERE IN THE POST OFFICE THAT THEY ACCIDENTALLY THREW IT OUT IN THE GARBAGE I HAVE PROOF THAT THEY SCANNED IT THERE WITH THE TRACKING NUMBER,BUT NEVER MADE IT OUT OF THE BUILDING.I'LL BOIL IT DOWN FOR YOU,THEY SAID "ITS TOO BAD,SORRY"AND I GOT ALL KINDS OF EXCUSES.POSTAL EMPLOYEES MAKE A LARGE SUM OF MONEY,AND AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THEY ARE WAY OVER PAID.I APOLOGIZED TO THOES EMPLOYEES THE TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR WORK AND SINCERELY DO THEIR WORKTO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY,BUT UNFORTUNATELY FROM WHAT I CAN SEE,YOU ARE TOO FEW IN NUMBER.
Test for USPS employee? I took the test for the USPS employee(473) last Saturday, Sep.9th. What kind of another test will they give me if I pass the test? Interview? Anybody who know, please let me know. Thank you!
USPS casual Employee and night? I asked a question a few days ago about USPS night jobs and someone told me about a casual employee at usps.. I was told I do not need to take a test for this position? where can I apply and what are the night hours for this position? Do I just go in and ask for the position as"casual employment"?
Between USPS, UPS and Fedex, which company is the best place to work at for delivery? I am wondering which company is the best in terms of how much each typically pays, the amount of work that must be done, how each one treats their employees, how good their benefits are, etc. I am currently looking for good stable employment and I have my eyes set on being a delivery driver for one of these companies. I'd really appreciate it if you could share your experiences as well as your recommendations. I was wondering since USPS is a government job, could that be better and if so, in what way exactly?
How does the USPS prevent theft by employees? Just curious: how does the postal office prevent the customers' packages and mails from being stolen by their employees? I don't mean to be suspicious, but I'm going away for extended period of time and expect to receive some important packages in my mail box during my absence...
How should a USPS Mailcarrier present themselves? My twin cousins are presently interviewing in California for mailcarrier positions and have asked me as to whether or not they should be clean shaven, should they wear a suits, etc. My advice is to be conservative, professional, and always "dress for the position you want", but their buddy (who already works for the USPS has long hair and is fully bearded) claims that they may not want to walk into the hub looking too "GQ" and that it's best to stay be casual and remain low profile. Any USPS employees with advice for me to pass on to my mentees? I need to know that this guy is not just feeding my cousins some kind of b.s. based on opinion or ulterior motive as opposed to facts! Thanks in advance, folks.

Is there anyway for me to complaint against the service at a USPS postal office? I have been searching and searching but I don't find any number I can call to complaint about the poor service in a postal office. All I could find is everyone complaining about the service at USPS. At first I don't care because it's not my business but then it will started to irritate me when their service went from unacceptable to bad to worse to ridiculous and I'm fed up with their sh1t. It took them 45 mins to serve 2 customers and there's always 9 pple at work chit-chating and 1 person in the counter it's so unbelievable that we're paying our tax to these fcuks here that sit around and gets a salary from our tax money and when they retired they're retiring with our retirement money I'm fed up with these USPS employees !!! so what's the number for me to report a complaint?
How do I find out the USPS pay scale? I have opportunities to have two interview from USPS for General Maintenance Positions (PS 5 or 6) and Automotive Technician (PS 7). I try to find out the pay scale, but I can't find any. Does anyone know about the pay? Is it good? Any overtime? I don't mind to work overtime and/or weekend. I have aother job opportunity to work at other state (TX) as a tank mechanic. The pay is good because I get most money by per diem, but it is a temp job, and I have to leave my wife and three young kids in CA. If I choose to work in TX, I have to leave in early May, but the interviews for USPS jobs will be held at May 8 and May 17. If USPS pay good, I will not leave my family (my wife is federal employee, so benefit package is not a factor to make the decision). We have mortgage, two cars loan, student loan ... We want to find a way to earn maximum money. But before I make the decision, I need to know how much USPS would pay for PS 5, 6 and 7. Please help me
USPS First Class International mail reliable? Chance of a 17x12x4, 2 lb package, value of items at $5, getting from Pittsburgh, PA to El Salvador via USPS First Class International in 14 business days or less? Please, no jokes... Your honest best guess? (The USPS employee recommended I go First Class Int. over Global Priority because he said the approximate delivery date will be the same, and since me package is only 2 lbs, I might as well go First Class Int. to save money).

Package stolen from USPS New York Customs? I have a International package that disappeared at USPS Customs in Jamaica, New York about 20 days ago. I contacted several customs agents and they are doing nothing about the situation. I think it might have been stolen by one their employees. I did some research and apparently this isn't uncommon with that US Center. International Packages go "missing" all the time.
USPS interview with doing anything before it? I applied the CITY CARRIER (TRANSITIONAL EMPLOYEE) from USPS.COM/. They invited me to go interview tomo, but after I did some researches, normally people will take the 473 test before go to interview. My question just what the interview for?? even though I dont anything yet, like test, background check and drug test.. please let me know. thank you so much
Worried about USPS Packages. How do I check if they got my package? Hello, I am a regular ebay seller. I listed some auctions week ago. They ended on Tuesday. I took at the merchandise to the USPS office, I printed some labels for USPS Priority mail envelope and First class mail. When I went to the front counter the USPS employee said I can use the smalled usps box it was a 7x6x5 or something. I said are you sure these are for envelopes? I cannot use boxes? She said the Box is ok to use with the labels, its been 36 hours since I handed off the packages to the employee, now I am home checking the info on the DC# nothing shows up! I am worried if these packages will get returned to me because they were supposed to envelopes. But, the lady said I can use it with a box... I am very scared because the buyers will not get their items on time!!
USPS Job ..? A relative of mine was given the job opportunity to work for USPS as a PE Carrier. He passed the driving test and officially got the job, and was told to quit his previous job. After working for about 2 days he was given another written test, which he failed. After this they told him he was no longer a USPS employee, and since he was told to quit his previous job, now he is without a job.... Is there anything he can do about this? Since it is because of USPS telling him to quit, that he has no income anymore... Thanks yeah I was thinking about the union too...but apparently you have to be an employee for a few months or something before you get union benefits
USPS says that the package was delivered, but I never got it!? I've always had USPS deliver mail to me and when the boxes are too-large, they leave it in the front-yard. I purchased a $40 item on Tuesday, and the seller promptly shipped it on Wednesday. When I checked from my office on Friday, it says "Delivered on Friday, Feb 1" in my city and zip-code. I was so excited that I drove home during lunch -- no package...I looked all around the house, under all the shrubs, trees, etc. and also outside my garage to no avail. I drove around the neighborhood and did not find it. Also asked my neighbors to see if they got it. Nope. I thought maybe the driver forgot and will deliver it on Saturday. Nope. Nothing came on Saturday. When I went to the post-office on Saturday afternoon and explained the problem to the USPS employee, he looks at me and goes "Okay? According to our records it has been delivered sir." To which I said, "I am not lying, I did NOT get the package. What do I do" and he hands me a post it and says "Put your phone number on it." and to which I said, "You don't even have my address and my details, how are you going to track it?" He goes, "yes, please put that too." And when I was leaving, he sticks the post-it to his monitor....and I am sure that it will not be looked into considering the attitude of the idiot. After I got home, I called the 1800 number for USPS and they started a ticket. they said they will contact the post master and have this looked into. But I am afraid that my $40 have gone wasted...
USPS new employee question? Do new employees have to work on federal holidays? I know the mail is not delivered, but do newer employees sort mail and pick up mail from drop boxes? For example, today, Veterans Day?
Where do we get our government discount? This question is for postal employees. I'm finding out more and more places everyday that offer a government discount to USPS employees and just wanted to know if anyone knows any others besides fast food places and cell phone companies
Shipping from any USPS or Mailing Company employee? Umm hello anyone reading this question how long is regular standard shipping. From Alaska to Texas.. And also what is shipping from Florida to Texas. Standard shipping. Im just a nice curios guy. Remember 10 points gets best answer
When will USPS be taken over by people who actually want customers? I sent an email complaining that a tolll-free employment verification number for USPS hadn't been working for the last 3 weeks -- I'm trying to verify employment for someone I want to hire. Here is the response I got by email from usps customer support: "Thank you for contacting us about the Postal Employee verification phone line not working. Unfortunately if this number is out of service you will have to wait until it does work." I know if I got an email about my company having a problem with one of it's phone lines, I sure wouldn't respond this way....
Who determines insufficient postage? I have heard that the post office has an automated system to determine IF there is postage, but not necessarily that there is the right amount. If so, then they are relying on individual USPS employees to catch mistakes in postage, correct? And this is why some with insufficient amounts still get delivered while others do not? I am confused...
Can defendant say she never received Summons when her signature is on the USPS Mail receipt? I am currently the Plaintiff in a case against a local home builder who destroyed my property. After all options were exhausted, I brought them to court. There only response in the whole case has been when there attorney filed a Civil 60(B) saying they never knew about the case until I filed a bank attachment. They claim they never showed up for the first court hearing because they were unaware of it. They say that one of there employees who, who has since quit, never told anyone about any court summons or paperwork or pending trial. HOWEVER, the owner of the company who I am bringing the case against SIGNED the Certified Mail receipt for the summons. My question: Is there any way they can say that she did not receive or read it, and what will possibly be the Defendants next move? I hope the judge realizes that they have lied under oath and on an affidavit and upholds the origianl ruling in my favor. Thank you The court mailed the summons and date stamped everything. I also have a notarized affidavit from the defendants attorney and the signatures are identical. Even the Court Clerk said that it is her signature. I submitted the evidence today, I will keep you posted. Hopefully the judge will put a stop to this.
I was recently hired by the USPS as a casual employee and have a few questions so please advise me. Thanks? Ok I was recently hired as a casual employee with the USPS and want to know would that mean I would be a mail carrier? I go in for orientation tommorrow orning so what should I expect? After my 6 moths provided I am deemed satifactory I am eligible to take the carrer postal test, so for mail carrier would that certify as one if I am successful on the career test after saisfactorally completing my first 6 months. Let me know
Do you have to be a state employee to handle USPS mail? OK here's the deal- there is a local 'post office' here that is at the gas station. The kids they get to work there have no idea how to do the mail and I don't even think it's legit to have 'just anyone' handle the mail. They are always overcharging and they take forever. You can't get any sort of service from them because they don't even know how to do dc or insured mail! Are the owners of this gas station making a killing from the state by claiming to be a post office or what? Aren't they required to have someone there that is a postal employee? It's irritating me. I would like to know what the legalities are on it but the usps website is impossible to navigate for me. Anyone out there have an idea? I have reported them. I reported them over a year ago now and just reported them again. Nothing comes of it. The last time I think they made a couple signs that explained how to do the mail for the kids that work there.
Does a TE (Transitional Employee) for the USPS really work 6 days a week? I was just interviewed by my local Postmaster for a TE city carrier, and he said I would basically be working 6 days a week, which included Sat. Can this really be the case, not getting another day off for working 6 days a week? Is this normally the case everywhere or just a localized work schedule? Also, does anyone know if this work week would continue if I became a carrier carrier? Thanks so much! I'm just outside Philly in Lansdale, PA. I was just interviewed by my local Postmaster for a TE city carrier, and he said I would basically be working 6 days a week, which included Sat. Can this really be the case, not getting another day off for working 6 days a week? Also, if I decided to become a carrier carrier would working 6 days a week still be normal? Thanks so much! How to deal with "corruption" in the USPS, WITHOUT union representation? National Labor Relations Board has a written "agreement" with the employer to provide requested documents (which they refuse to honor), Department of Labor states that they do not have the staff or resources to investigate/prosecute for the civil (and criminal) violations of Federal Laws that they DOL is responsible for enforcing. Union Representative has been subjected to "undue influence" by local management to ensure his "assistance and silence" in their (managements') actions against members of the Craft (Union) members which have resulted in MILLIONS of dollars of "losses" to the employees and the employer. Office of Inspector General (USPS), "claims" to have INVESTIGATED my complaint.......yet failed to obtain ANY of the supporting documents from me, or ANY of the witness names that I have. They summarily ruled that ALL USPS actions were "appropriate", including multiple violations of National Contract, several Federal Laws (both civil and criminal). Where do I go for help? Contacted our National Union President.........only to have him "pass the buck" right back to our local President and our local Steward (the one being "influenced"). Influence has included "unlimited absences" and PAYOFFS under the pretense of "inappropriate suspensions" (thousands of dollars).
