USPS jobs..? Where could I find out when they will be giving the test near me?
Is there any related USPS type cargo specialist jobs in the NG? I'm just curious to know if there's any Cargo Specialist jobs in the Army Nation Guard, or if there's any USPS related type jobs in the NG e.g. mail handling. And is there any reading material out there that I can get so I can conduct some research e.g. books, web-site, etc...
How do I find out the USPS pay scale? I have opportunities to have two interview from USPS for General Maintenance Positions (PS 5 or 6) and Automotive Technician (PS 7). I try to find out the pay scale, but I can't find any. Does anyone know about the pay? Is it good? Any overtime? I don't mind to work overtime and/or weekend. I have aother job opportunity to work at other state (TX) as a tank mechanic. The pay is good because I get most money by per diem, but it is a temp job, and I have to leave my wife and three young kids in CA. If I choose to work in TX, I have to leave in early May, but the interviews for USPS jobs will be held at May 8 and May 17. If USPS pay good, I will not leave my family (my wife is federal employee, so benefit package is not a factor to make the decision). We have mortgage, two cars loan, student loan ... We want to find a way to earn maximum money. But before I make the decision, I need to know how much USPS would pay for PS 5, 6 and 7. Please help me
How is the job of rural carrier associate for USPS? I was looking online for jobs with the USPS and noticed that they are hiring for a bunch of RCA positions. What is the pay for these jobs? Are these considered full time jobs or is it just a day or two a week? Is it possible to start out as a RCA and then become a city carrier? Does one use their own vehicle as an RCA or are they provided a vehicle?

USPS job question about the temporary postition available? When I goto USPS.com and search careers and than goto my state of Pa and my city which is Pittsburgh it says only a temporary causal position available. It says this for every city. I thought with this type of temporary position you did not need to take the 473 exam? I want to try and take the exam but is this how i do it? I am confused since I thought it had to be a full time job you are applying for. If not, does this job lead to full time? thanks

Does anybody know how to find out about jobs at the post office? When I go to the USPS web sight the only job listed in my area is Rural Carrier. Is that a permanant job or temp? I currently have a full time job and am looking for a change and wanted to look into a 3rd shift position at the post office like a mail sorter or something. Does anybody know if they exist? Also, what kind of benefits do they offer? (vacation time, insurance, holiday pay etc.)
A question on 2 different jobs at the USPS? Hello, about 2 months ago I applied for a Transitional city carrier job which pays 20.94 an hour but so far i've gotten no reply. the only "good news" is that the status of my application has changed from application entry to "pre-screening"...which i have no idea how long that's going to take. now i just saw that there's a new job (mail handler) close to me for 12 bucks an hour, i was wondering do you think i should apply for that one (even though of the big difference in pay), or i should just wait it out for the first job? (i'm afraid if i apply for this, they'll hire me for this more likely than the other one, thus losing 9 bucks an hour in pay) thank you for your input!
How much bearing will a recent accident have on getting a job with the USPS? I took the test for career letter carrier last winter, passed and got a call in notice for orientation, but due to a blizzard, I got there 5 minutes late and they wouldn't let me in. I never heard anything again from them until today when I got another letter for a call in for orientation. The first time around I had a perfectly clean driving record with no accidents or tickets, but a month ago, I hit a parked card so I was obviously 100 percent at fault for it. I'm going to have to list this on the drivers record they make you fill out, but will it disqualify me from employment or have a really negative effect on the employment process. Also, if it doesn't disqualify me, does the fact that I got a call in mean that I will get a job, but just have to wait on a list until a position becomes available for me? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks I have close to 5 years of driving experience on record so it wasn't like I just started driving and had an accident so hopefully that comes into account. Thanks for all the answers so far.
Do government jobs ensure that private sector jobs pay better? Would FedEx and UPS pay so well if they weren't competing with the USPS for talent? If they wanted their workers to be as motivated, and knew what public sector employees made? And public sector jobs take labor out of the labor pool, making the market tighter and thus wages higher also. What would happen to wages in the private sector without this competition?
What kinds of jobs are available without citizenship in the US? My husband has been looking for a good paying job for over a week now. Most of them require US citizenship. The best ones seem to be with delivery services, like UPS, DHL, USPS, etc. But what are his other options? He has work permit, drivers license, speaks several languages fluently. Most places that hire linguists require education in language or translation. What to do? (He needs a job quick) Thank You in advance!! He HAS a work permit. Thank you for the advice. And he is a "legal alien". He has a greencard and SS#.
USPS (top heavy supervisors slam down on hard working carriers with indimitation we work in fear WHY? I don't know about your offices in the United States but are Post Office is run so ridiculous that a 10 year old could walk in there and do a better job. The taxpayer should be angry about USPS stamp increase it is because the higher ups want more money and they are trying to squeeze it out of the hard working carriers and despite there big saftey propoganda that is a lie. The only thing they care about is getting the numbers right so they can get there bonus. They harress the workers buy demanding them to get done faster well putting more work on them. Then they go around and drive and spy while eating there big mac and nit pick on any last thing a carriar could be doing wrong. (example 5 minites over break limit) carrier wrote up. Bit buy a dog carrier wrote up . Fell down some icy stairs carrier wrote up. Well the whole time they sit around like little puppets waiting to hear what the higher office wants them to do next. USPS needs to overhall entire system starting with the top.

How do you land a job as a Transitional Employee for the USPS? Is there an exam that is given out or what? I went into my local post office and asked when the next postal exam was and she told me about Transitional Employees, this was my first time hearing about them. Can someone tell me how I would go about becoming one?

USPS Job ..? A relative of mine was given the job opportunity to work for USPS as a PE Carrier. He passed the driving test and officially got the job, and was told to quit his previous job. After working for about 2 days he was given another written test, which he failed. After this they told him he was no longer a USPS employee, and since he was told to quit his previous job, now he is without a job.... Is there anything he can do about this? Since it is because of USPS telling him to quit, that he has no income anymore... Thanks yeah I was thinking about the union too...but apparently you have to be an employee for a few months or something before you get union benefits
Should a usps package delivery man come up to you? I ask this because I think I heard somewhere that they are suppose to come up to your apartment but there have been more than a few times where they have told me to come down. I just want to know if it is part of their job description to come upstairs or not. I know that it is for ups and fedex but i am not sure about the usps.

USPS Job New Hire? I want to apply for a USPS job, mainly because my work is slowing down and they are cutting hours, I also would like to try a more challenging job as I have done my job for the past five years. I am currently 23 and going to college full time. I went to college to become a teacher but have changed my mind and would like to finish with my AA in general studies anyway. would have to work nights first if I wanted to do this becasue all the classes I need to take from here on out are a.m. classes. (I work a.m. now). So my question is what job would suite me best, I want to eventually deliver mail because I think it would be a job I enjoy, as I am very energetic and I'm active and run a lot. I think that job would suit me well thats why I am set out to see if that is something I may desire as a long term career. I am comfortable working my way up but my question is what exam I should apply for?
How do the workers at USPS sort mail and deliver them so quickly and manage to do it everyday? This has always been something that I have always wanted to know. If someone worked at USPS, that would be great. I mean, they have to sort the thousands of letters coming in from certain locations and sort them. How on earth do you sort THOUSANDS of letters? There are thousands of people who live in one zip code too. The also have to deliver packages while delivering mail. Also how do they give out the littles ad too? From grocery stores, etc. Seems like a hard job to manage all that.

If I want to work for the USPS in or near my hometown, do I have to wait for a test to be given locally? Does it matter where I go to take a USPS civil service test? I'm in northern NJ. Currently the only tests listed on the USPS website in NJ are further south, nowhere near where I live. Could I take a test down there and still work up here or is there more of a correlation between testing location and working location? Also is a test being given in a particular town at all indicative of job openings being more likely there?
I am trying to apply for USPS? I was convicted of a misdemeanor when I was 18 and I have since kept my record clean and I am 32 this year. I am in the process of applying for a delivery or clerical job at the USPS. I am wondering if my misdemeanor from so long ago will hinder my chances and if it's crucial for me to disclose this information. ( I hear that records for employement are only accessible for 7 years, does that apply for government agencies as well?) Please advise.
USPS job is this legit???? there was this ad in the classifieds for this job with the postal service. there was an 1-800 number that i called and he told me how i have to pay $99 to take recieve the materials to take this test so i can get hired. then if i get an interview they will help me make sure i pass and get the job. i didn't give him the money and told him i would think about it. seemed kinda shady like those movie ads where you pay the agent ahead of time to help you. i've heard those are all scams and this seemed to be done the same way. he gave me a wesite to check out http://www.examregistration.us/ so my question is does this seem legit? have people that work for the postal service gone through this?
USPS job exam? In Washington Metro Area in the nation's capital, took the test and passed it because the letter says "Notice of Rating Eligible" (if I'm not mistaken). Is advisable to take the test again and again whenever the test is administered for the same location, or a location nearby?
