How many of you have received advertizing mailings from US Postal Service? In the last few weeks I have received 3 "keeping you Posted" cards form the US Postal Service. It tells us how we can handle our postal needs. Now I have been able to take care of my postal needs on my own with no problem. What is a problem is, that when I go to the post office there is no place to park, I wait in a long line and am finally waited on by surely clerks. Our postal rates were raised not long ago. How many more cards do you think they will send out before they raise the rates again. Is it really neccessary for our post office to send out cards telling us how to conduct our business?
What's the different between a Parcel Post and a Flat Rate Box for US Postal Service? I've noticed that Parcel Post is less expensive than the Medium Flat Rate Box for US Postal Service. Besides the fact that the flat rate box (priority mail) will ship faster, is there any difference? Does US Postal Service allow me to mail a pair of shoes in its original shoebox without having to put it into another box? Thanks!

Where can I find out insurance rates for US postal services with letters to the UK? Each envelope would contain an item worth around the $30 mark, but as they would be going international I want them to be insured. I can find UPS rates, but not USPS rates for insurance. I looked at the Express mail, but I noticed a bit of small print which says that certain items are excluded from their insurance, jewelry amongst them, which is one of the things I do want insurance for.

Why can't health care throw their hat into the ring of Capitalism? Canada has socialized medicine. It is ALL government run with NO private health insurers. Should the CEO of the US Postal Service take a pay cut? He ran the organization into the ground. They recently raised their rates by 5% to $0.44 effective May 1. They are running a deficit so they are going to have to either cut staff or raise rates again to just break even. Companies are selling technology to allow a business to eliminate the need to mail invoices, statements, etc., so mail volume will be decreasing even further. This guy makes almost $850,000 and no one is outraged. Should he take a 20% pay cut?

Does the US Postal Service cheat letter- and package-senders to give rate breaks to bulk mail senders? I heard that the USPS uses high postage rates on first-class mail and packages, so that they can offer lower rates to commercial bulk-mailers. Are we ordinary citizens being used to subsidize the costs of by-mail advertising for rich corporations, who send us tons of unwanted catalogs that clutter up our mail boxes and just get thrown in the trash, un-looked-at? vollyballchic and justagrandma. There's a difference between a bulk order and a bulk mailing. When a store, such as Wal-Mart, makes a bulk purchase, it pays for delivery of the items from the manufacturer to their store, and naturally it is cheaper to buy a lot from one seller than the same amount from many sellers. But when someone mails a letter, he carries it to the post office at his own expense. Letter writers not only pay the costs of carrying the letter from their town's post office to another post office across the country (i.e., postage), they ALSO pay to get the letter TO their town's post office. There's no difference, then, between what it costs the post office to receive outgoing mail, whether bulk or letters. It's zero, in each case. What's really happening is that the post office has shifted the burden of corporate bulk mail advertising over to the non-corporate citizen who mails letters and packages. It would be better if corporations paid for their own advertising.
The US Postal Service needs $7.8B bailout , why would you entrust your health care to the same group of people? The US Postal Service is now projecting it will need a $7.8 Billion dollar bail out from the federal government, on top of cutting all Saturday mail deliveries. This projected $7.8B deficit comes even after the USPS saved $6B last year by cutting 40K jobs and implementing many other cost saving methods. Also, the USPS finished fiscal year 2009 $3.8B dollars in the red. My question to all you government health care supporters: Why the hell would you trust you life to a government that can't even mail a letter with losing money? If they are so incompetent they cannot keep a semi-private, profit making (supposedly) making venture like the USPS above the water financially, why would you think they could keep you healthy? Why is the US postal service so incompetent (part 10)? So the one on top when i clicked showed the book of sunflower stamps same as the one I had, so I had to figure that was the going rate and I mailed my bills that are due asap. Well, now I find out the sunflower stamps they're selling on their website are for 42 cents and you have to include two 1 cent stamps to make it 44 cents which is the current going rate. I guess my mail well get mailed back undelivered and I'll have to purchase 2 cent stamps which are hard to find and re-send them and hopefully not get late fees on my bills and it'll be double work for the post office. Can't they post current rate stamps on their website or not make the 2 cent you need to add not part of the small print? Seriously. What do you think? My point is if they're going to be selling 42 cent stamps and I don't know it's supposed to be 44 unless I read the small print, figuring they wouldn't be selling the outdated ones on their website, then yeah that's kind of dumb because i had the same sunflower ones and figured those were ok to send. My eyes are weak enough, I didn't read the small print. If those are outdated stamps then at least on their website where people aren't going to make a separate transaction to purchase a pack of 2 cent stamps, they should sell the 44 cent ones. That's big time incompetency. Plus the other day I filled out a PO box form and paid for it online to save time, still had to stand 1 hr in line to get the keys only to be told to come back with a print out of what I filled online. That is big time incompetency, I should've just done the whole thing in person cuz i stood in line for nothing, had to go to kinko to pay for computer/print out and drive back to the post office. makes no sense.

Ebay fraud? weird shipping ? Ok I recently won an auction on ebay from a seller with 0 feedback, after speaking to paypal they made me feel comfortable enough that they had me covered in case of fraud, so I bid and won the auction, the shipping said "free shipping US Postal Service Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope", the seller did not reply to two emails sent during the Christmas Holiday which was understandable, ebay advised I call the seller and I did, she was very nice on the phone and said she would ship the item out that day, later sent me an email with tracking info, the problem was that it was not USPS as her page said, it was www.theupsstore.com, when I called UPS they said it was a franchise that was not owned by them, the tracking # the seller gave did not work on the regular UPS website, weird? at www.theupsstore.com, the tracking link gave me a warning on mozilla, explorer, and chrome saying Secure Connection Failed www.iship.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for iship.com (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain) the website is www.iship.com that has an invalid security certificate, I past the warning and clicked on the link and tracked the package and it said "SHIPPED" and expected jan 6, but the sellers email with the shipping info told me that the ups store said they would be shipping the item out mon dec 29th, the tracking # told me the item was SHIPPED, whats going on? the UPS employee I spoke to told me that the tracking #'s should be the same yet the regular UPS website and the employee over the phone do not recognize the number, I am very worried, is this some kind of scam? I will call paypal and ask them about this and am waiting for ebay to respond, but if anyone out there knows anything whether good or bad please let me know what you think.

USPS Postal Flat Charge? I don't understand it, Priority Mail Rates Weight around 5 lb and at zone 8, it is charged $12 for shipping. That mean if u ship something pretty far in the US, u would get charge about 12 dollars. And also, I try sending this package, not that big weight around 34 lb, it cost me 30 bucks....to send it. According to Priority Mail Flat Rate Box, anything weight up to 70 lb, no matter the destination, is only charged with a flat fee of $8!!!! How is this possible, how is this cheaper but better deal, can someone explain it to me, if this is cheaper, then wouldn't everyone would have used that service?? Do Breast Cancer stamps sold at the post office constitute sexual discrimination at the federal level? For those who aren't stateside, the US Postal Service sells 1st class postage stamps at a rate HIGHER than the current 1st class rate, and the proceeds in excess of the 1st class rate are distributed to Breast Cancer research organizations. Yes, it's voluntary - you certainly aren't required to buy the stamps, but is it discriminatory to provide a mechanism for fundraising for one sex and not the other? I see plenty of women buying those stamps, and it's entirely conceivable that men would purchase stamps if somebody bothered to even print them. Can I turn a box inside out & mail it? I was wondering if it was ok I turn a FLAT RATE Priority mailing box INSIDE OUT & use it to mail something. I have gotten packages like this a number of times though from sellers on Ebay, paperback trading sites & other swap sites. The thing that worries me though is written on the side of boxes and mailers is a note saying: THIS PACKAGING IS THE PROPERTY OF THE US POSTAL SERVICE AND IS PROVIDED SOLELY FOR THE USE IN SENDING PRIORITY MAIL. MISUSE MAY BE A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW. So I am wondering if I turn it inside out and use it to mail Priority mail then that will be ok.
