Who owns the zip codes in the states, the postal service or the federal government? Rural areas are having a very difficult time with zip codes. It seems that there is a catch 22 with zip codes. My state rep told me that the federal government owns the zip codes, but the postal service which is no longer a part of the federal government, although it is regualted by the federal government, has the discresion of of assigning zip codes for mailing routes. This is a problem because in many cases a town has a zip code and a post office, but by the "discrestion" of the postal service those zip codes can be ignored and mail delivery can be assigned to another zip code. Case and point, in Wrightsville, AR the Zip code is 72183. This is an incorporated city. However the physical addresses are Little Rock 72206. Also in Woodson AR, the zip is 72180 but for home delivery the address stays the same, but the city and zip changes to Hensley, AR 72065. These are not automatically entered into a data base. Even those living in Hensley that have PO Boxes addresses won't validate, for expample for online ordering or services. But, these are 911 addresses. Even those living in Hensley their address basically is not recognized because they have not been "activated". This is like living in the twilight zone. We receive packages in these areas from courriers. But, in some data bases they will not validate. This is causing real problems. Now our tax bills for Woodson lists us in Hensley and also on our utility bills our physical address is Hensley, but yet they are not recognized for services such as phone service and other services. Does anyone have any information on how this can be resolved. We are in danger of losing our post offices and zip codes which means we lose our identity. We are tying to stop this but we don't know who to contact. We have contacted our state and US representatives but have not made any process. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. We feel like this is an attempt to elimimate our communities and ultimately move us to another county. Most of the mail is delivered in another county that has nothing to do with the town. Please send any information on what process to take to resolve this. These communities have been in existance for over 100 years and we don't wan to disappear. Thank you

Anyone know to contact Yahoo when you have billing paying problems? Yahoo Credit Card processing center has and out of data Zip Code directory and I can not pay for Yahoo Sercives, because it rejects my Credit Card because my Zip Code is incorrect/not in their Zip Code Data Base. I have had this problem ordering items from on-line retailers and its always the Credit Card process company being used by the retailer. I have contacted both the US Postal service and my Credit Union and both give the same answer. It is the Credit Card Processing company it's not correctly mantaining the their local copy of the Zip Code data base. I know my Zip Code I give for processing on-line is correct, because its the same Zip Code on file with Credit Union that issued the card has on file and if I go to the US Postal service Zip Code look up Web Page and enter my address the US Postal services own Zip Code data base returns that Zip Code.

I entered the wrong postal code format for a magazine subscription? I recently got a Scientific American subscription online. I did everything correctly with the addresses and names and stuff, except I entered the postal code wrong. Not the numbers/letters specifically, but the format. Scientific American, being an US magazine, had a zip code box, and a "international postal code" box. I live in Canada. I checked off the right province and Canada, but I accidently entered my postal code (X#X #X#) in the zip code box as "X#X#X#". Basically, the six letter code without the space in the middle. It worked, but I'm wondering if that's actually going to mail to my house now... Should I just wait and see if they get it right or should I call Customer Service to straighten it out? Thanks!
Zip code 38199??? I'm tracking a priority package through the US Postal Service. Here's the message I get: "Your item was processed and left our ZIP Code 38199 facility on July 15, 2008. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later." When looking up ZIP code 38199 at the USPS website, it says: "The ZIP Code you entered could not be found in our database. Please confirm the ZIP Code and try again." Any ideas??

I want to find the list of official state abbreviations. I went to the Mexican Postal Service website (http://www.sepomex.gob.mx/) and as far as I can figure out I can get neat lists of Mexican "zip codes" but couldn't find the list of state abbreviations. Is there a way to report scammers on Craigslist? I often try to sell things on Craigslist and it really bugs me that not even a min later i get at least 3 scam emails. I really dont' know what their aim is or what their trying to do , usually in the subject fo the email it' s a " RE: " title with the item , but obviously i've never emailed them so , how could they have replied to me ? lately though people are sending different emails saying " hey is this still available " which makes it seems like a real email. but then i replied yes it was to one and i got this back .......
