Postal Office Job? What does Casual Employment do in postal office? is that term or full time job? is there benefit? how is pay like?
post office job/ postal battery exam? Ok, so to make this short, I found a ad in the PennySaver Magazine about a postal job, $20/hr + benefits. I called the number 1-800-584-1775 and it was USWA, an Exam Services place and he told me that I will have to take a exam (postal battery exam) in order to get a job with the post office. The cost of that will be $100, 240 pages and 4 sections to the test. He also say that you will need to score a 70 or higher to past the exam but a 90 to get a interview. They will also refund back your money if you don't pass the exam, you get the interview but did not get the job, and if you get the job and you work that for a week. Anyways, I end up paying for it. He also gave me my confirmation number and a customer care number if I had any question regarding the exam. So to make that this wasn't a scam..I called the customer care number and gave them my confirmation number and surely she had my info. So, has anyone goes through this and is it legitimate?
I'm going to have an interview for a postal office job. Need Advise? I was disable about 11 mo. due to a car accident. I had knee surgery, but I'm better now. If they ask me about my disability should I say that I had knee surgery or what? Would they not hired me if I say the truth. Would this keep me from getting a job as a mail courier?
What are the requirements for postal jobs? As I saw my usual mail carrier the other day I wondered, what does it take to be a mail carrier? Do you simply apply like most other jobs or is a degree involved, special training ect.. Ive heard they make pretty good pay and have excellent benefits packages and seem interested in learning more about it as a profession. Can anyone please share more any information with me. The postal web address gives me little information on how to apply. Most post offices do not have information on applying.
What type of test do you take for post office jobs? I want to work at the post office because they say it pays really well, and I need first shift work. I need to know where to go to take the test and what is the test like? What is the average starting pay for a postal worker? I am a single mom and need to be home in the evenings and they said you only work first shift and some Saturdays, any info on this subject?
How to work in Postal office? How do i apply a job in USPS? their website has almost no job opening in the whole U.S. I look for applying like carrier or work in the postal office? how do i apply?
What are the chances of getting a job at the Postal Office? I recently applied for a position and they sent me a study guide since I was required to take a test before they could call me in to take the typing test (that is, if I passed the test). It has been over a month and they have not sent me my scores. They said that they would send the scores even if you failed..could it be that there were too many people that applied for the job? Has this happened to anybody? I recently drove by the Postal Office and they were STILL offering the job. And on the day that I took the test there were over 50 people...
Upper age limit for post office jobs? Is there an upper age limit for hiring on with the United States Postal Service (USPS)? I cannot find any info online regarding this. Thanks. Update - thank you both for great answers. That's really encouraging! I understand it can take ages to get hired if you do well on the tests and interviews...I will look into this locally on Monday.
On a job resume, or application, is it better not to list the past jobs, that you got fired? I didn't work while raising my kids, for about 15 years, so since my divorce for13 years , I have had some pretty bad jobs! Jobs you would get with no college degree, or much experience. some sales, some office work, and a postal job that turned sour. With bad supervisors, who didnt care about there employee's, and would treat them bad, and than fire them when they tried to communicate, that things could be better. So I have no work references, that I would want to use! Would it be better to just leave these jobs off the application and resume, and just put that I have been a stay at home mom for most of the years. Just put the 1 or 2 jobs, that don't make me look bad? I hate to lie, but I don't know what else to do! I need a job!
How do i get a postal worker job? usps told me i need to check there web page for available jobs. the web page has not had any available office or delivery jobs in over three years and I have noticed that the post offices I go to seen to get new employees every few months even the drivers change. is there some other way to find out about available job that I don't know about
Do you recognise or know the name of this film? (Lost father, postal sorting office)? The film is about a young woman trying to find her father. It begins with her in a job interview, she gets a job in a postal sorting office. In the office there is a box full of letters which supposedly will never reach their destination (letters to santa etc). When she finds her Father she is disappointed, he is a lowlife man who lives in a trailer. He didn't live up to her expectations. However, during the film i think she falls in love with a man (i think he was mexican). He lets go of some doves? Sorry it's brief. If you recognise it please let me know. Thank you!
US Postal Service jobs, how to get them? I'm searching on the USPS website for exam openings and there are hardly none. If there are no exam openings does that mean they are not hiring? The only job opening I see are maintenance positions and temporary positions. How long is the typical temp position? Should I visit a post office and ask them about their openings or is this website recent?
Post Office Jobs.......? I have seen some ads on internet and newspaper state that they can offer you a post office job, but you have to pay for the a package which contains materials you will need for the postal exam (they called something like e-career profile). How legitimate are them?

What are the best months to apply for a job at the post office? I would like a job preferably as a casual (temp) at a New England Post Office Warehouse, multiple members of my family have had jobs at the post office and I have wanted to join since I was a little kid. I am now a full grown man and I want to know the specifics of getting a job at the post office warehouse... Such as: What months are best to apply? (By that I mean when are they most likely to hire) What I need to do to get hired? (Such as what someone you know or you did during your interview and please be specific with details) What I should bring with me? (To interview) What should I wear? (As I mentioned before I am a full grown man) Things I should mention? (At the interview) What shifts are between 10 am- Midnight? (Such as the terms 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift)...... I am a very hard worker who really wants a job at a New England Post Office and would appreciate any help especially from current or former Postal Workers or if you know someone who has worked for the post office.
Why would postal workers go postal? lol, why would you go postal over losing a postal job? OK I've heard some arguments that the work is well-paid, had benefits and is secure since its a government job, and when you get fire, it seems like you have lost control or are helpless, as there is no-one to dispute it to.. But still, it is a monotonous office day job where you are worked hard and lack any attaining of new skills. It's like a OK-pay dead end job. I don't see welfare agencies, nor teachers going on a murder rampage for losing their jobs. So it must be due to some social context at the time, or grudges at work or something. Still that doesn't explain why it was mainly carried out by postal workers, in a short time frame. Anybody have any insight to provide? It's the first time I've heard this saying, and so far have only done some basic wikipedia reading on it. No i do not plan to go postal, but I will if I don't get quality answers! Jokes Thanks
How do I apply for a post office job WITHOUT paying fees up front? Many ads that I have responded to for postal jobs require a valid credit card or checking account to pay upwards of 150 bucks to start testing to apply for a job. If anyone knows of how I can apply properly, please let me know. Only genuine and mature responses please. Thank you. I agree with "rtfm" that it is common sense to check the local post office but on the contrary, I have and they gave me the stupid 1-800 number that you have to pay to take the test.
anyone that can help me with post office job requirements? I want to work for post office, i ordered this book online which was suppose help me out on postal exam and its about 1600 pages :| and too much information, i was just wondering if anyone knew how to apply or how the procedure for applying for post office job works? and how much does exam cost? thanks
How do you get hired by the US Postal Service? There's an ad in my local paper that tells me to dial a 913 number. Then I hear a long message about how easy and good a post office job is. Just send them a $38 application fee (that they guarantee to return if you're not hired after a year). I went to indeed.com and they had an 800 number that also made it seem too easy. How does it really work?
What kinds of jobs can one look into if they only had Tempt work at the Post Office & Art Museum Volunteer? The reason I'm asking is because I am one who has been in college and I took temporary work while I was in school quarter of the time. I did it my last semester of school. I work at the Post Office as a Postal Clerk. I started as a tempt worker. I only lasted for eight months and than I reapplied a year later and I worked for four months. I did not have a job from that year which was 2001 until 2004. I was in school full-time to consentrate on working on my two year degree. I now have my AA degree. I know I have a spotted work history because school and lack of experience. I also went to a four year University for my major in Studio Art. I did not work at all because of it. I had been enroll in school full-time or quarter of the time. I attende it for two more years and when I left it the spring of 2007 I was asked for a job at a Nursery Center and I took it. It only lasted for a few days and I was released. They want someone with a bachelor's degree in child care. I was asked by a godparent (relative) who owned the Nursery. I have been checking for jobs off and on. I have been applying for job on the jobsites such as Snaga Job, Job.com or Indeed.com. I have also put in for applications at department stores and a Art Supply Store like Michael's Arts and Crafts. This past year I volunteered at a Art Museum as a Office Aid labeling envolopes and helping with an Art project. I lasted for two days. I had to called check back with them to find out if they needed me for it or to keep going my last visit but I got "No Word" from the Volunteer manager. It been a year and I have been putting in for jobs online and at the Michael's Arts and Crafts store. I have submitted a resume to a few jobs I found on the Job.com and a Employment Agency my aunt told me about called "Reichard Staffing". She told me about a position as a Control Clerk. I had a resume submitted to them on the site. I have called their number to check to see if they recieve it. When I got the call back from them a lady told me that recieved it and said that the position applied for was not a good fit for me. I just recently I applied to the Art Museum again. I look them up online on their website and found that they are hiring for two positions They were curator and a part-time position as Visitor Service Associate. I applied for Visitor Service Associate. When I called them to ask if they were hiring a lady said that they are in the process of interviewing people. I asked her if they were accepting resumes . She then told me that I could have my application and resume mailed to them. I have done it. It has been two days and "No word" on anything! I guess I would have check back with them on my status on whether they have recieve my application and reesume or not. I have trying to thing of other places to apply but there nothing near by me that are hiring Sometimes I feel kind of sad that I can not seem to find or get a job that I truly like or am interested in now. All the job that may be hiring are only require experience. I have called stores like Family Dollar, Walmart or Sam CLub to find out if they are hiring and accepting application and the answer was we accepting applications but are not hiring. If there were it would be for one position which was Assistant Manager. I have registered and sign up for three Temporary Employment Agencies one I did in person called "Goodwill Job Junction and two more I had to do online. Those were Kelly Services and Randstad Staffing. I got a call from someone at Goodwill Job Junction about how I'm coming with my job search and I would tell I only had one job interview at a job I submitted my resume to online. It was called American Income of North Florida. I never heard back from about anything else about a job. I also applied to Micheal's Distribution Center for job for Material Handler. When I called them about a lady asked if I can make appointment with them for a Open House tour at 9:00 am on a Tuesday or Thursday. I tried to go on a Thursday at 9:00 am. My grandparents had to take me because I do not have my own transportation. We tried to find the place but we had trouble finding it. My grandmother had to called them find out were the Distribution Center was located. We did Not get there in time. IT was a long ways out from where I lived. It was almost like going out of town. I also had to reschedule the appointment. During that morning, my grandmother called my house and told my mom that a lady mention that people may work out of town. My mother told me not to worry about going or forget about it. I not sure what other jobs that are near by where I live that are hiring that I like to apply to. I would not want Nursery or Fast food. I would like something a little different from my past work. I work at Post Office they only hire people when they need them. I like to do a little office aid or gallery assistant I would like to add and respond to this first answer! Yes, I can be quite wordy at times. I have a habit of going into details! Sometimes I have a time expressing how I feel in writing because I allow my feelings to get in the way. I have a time expressing my thoughts on paper or even typing it on the computer to someone. I have not had any computer training in word and excel. I have had plenty of practice on typing or using Microsoft Word and a word processor! I have a relative (aunt) who helps me on how to write a Resume and a cover letter. I am NOT LEARNING IMPAIRED for this reason! I may be somewhat mentally challenged about what to say in a business letter or on a essay paper. I would often ask myself how would I word it?I have taken all of my English Composition, and Communication courses that I needed at the Community College! I finished with my AA degree! The Community College were I used go is no longer a two-year college; but a four- year college now! I would lik I would like to pick up where I left off. I would like to improve on my writting skills a little more. I went to a Visual Art School between semesters from the Community College in Jacksonville,Florida! I have worked as a Art Intern for a couple of months. I have done clerical assistance and helped water the gardens. I have never recieved any sales training when I was in school as a Art major. I was attending at the School of Visual Arts majoring in Illustration. I was only there for two years. I previously attended at the University of North Florida majoring in Studio Art. I was working on a BA rather than the BFA. I have NOT had any sales experience! I do not plan to Sale any paintings. I do plan to build up or submit samples of my artwork to a Art website(online). I would also like to include that I'm NOT developmentally disabled!!!! I may be slightly mentally challenge to some degree. You DO NOT know me!.. I have a relative(aunt) who helps and reminds me of how to do a res
U.S postal service job ads on internet? i came across a ad that says post office jobs and it states the requirements at least 18 yr old. us citizen GED or HS diploma etc. they charge $109.00 to prepare you for the test. if in case you don't pass the test or get hired, you'll receive a refund for your money. Are these ads legit?
Can i live a healthy life if?..........? I work 2 jobs? My mom and dad have both offered my jobs. My mom is a Registered Nurse, and she offered me a job as a custodian at the hospital she works at. My dad is the manager of the California Postal Office, and he offered me graveyard shift working with machines. Now for the custodial job, i will be moving around. For the post office job, i will pretty much just stand in one place. Now here is the hours i was thinking of working: Custodial job-From 6am till 1pm. Post Office job-From 12pm till 7am. Now, i will be getting paid very well. The custodial job pays $27.00 a hour! The Postal Office job pays $12.00 a hour, which is OK. So if you do the math, i will be making $6,240 a month. Which is very good for my age. Please don't ask me why the custodial job pays so much, i honestly do not know. I had some guy on here call me a "liar". I don't have to lie to people i don't know, i don't lie period. Its a real situation. So if you could please give me real answers, i would greatly appreciate it. I graduated high school, and I'm entering college next year. So school isn't a problem. I'm also very healthy. I have been in sports all my life, and my favorite foods/drinks are vegetables and fruits. If it's any constellation, i am 18 years old. Thanks friends.
Who works for the US Post Office? Was it difficult for you to get hired? When I call the toll free number for info, I'm asked for money in order to purchase a study guide, and nothing else. Please tell me the appropiate steps to apply for a postal position (those of you who already have postal service jobs). Thank you! I worked for the USPS in another state about 15 0r 16 years ago, and the hiring procedure just isn't the same now as it was then.
Is Postal work a Dead in job? My fiance wants to take this job from the post office. She's fresh out of college, the job pays $57,000 a year plus health, dental, vacation and maternity. I work part time as a Tarot reader and go to college still (she's older than me). the Tarot job is $18 an hour. and I get on average $200 a week. our monthly expenses are a bit less than $2000 a month after we move from our current place. We see this situation as fine. However her mother is protesting that the postal job will not get her anywhere so she doesn't want her to apply to it. She suggested looking at Waitressing jobs but that sounds more dead end than clerical post office work ever could be. but is post office work really a dead end job?
Sorry but the postal strike is really annoying me. My Hubby works in a very low paid job? Hubby works nights for which time I have to have a carer. He does not have the oppurtunity or luxury to strike. For those of you that do not know, we do not get free anything for me being diasabled. But we prefer that Hubby earns a living rather than claiming it all back in benefits. I am currently waiting for a hospital letter regarding an operation. With the postal strike it is easier to phone the hospital. Do they not realise that post is not the only form of communication? If Hubby could get a job with the post office it would boost our money substantially, but alas, he has to continue to work for a very low wage.
What is the easiest way to apply for a job with the United States Postal Service? I am currently in the US Army, but will soon be getting out. I know that the Postal Service likes to hire Veterans of War. I have been doing some web searching, and have found job postings on hot-wire and other job search websites, but i don't want to go through them. I just wanna apply straight through the Postal Service. I am currently deployed so walking into a post office is not an option. Any help would be great.

How do I get a job as a casual postal carrier? I was told the post office isn't having a test for full time mail carriers for a while, but I should look into casual work. My question is: How do I find out if they are hiring casual workers? The post office website never seems to update the job section. SHould I just walk into several post offices in my area and ask the manager? If anyone works for the post office and can give me any info, that would be great!
What kinds of Jobs could I look into or apply if I had Postal Clerk, Art Volunteer work, and Nursery aid? I have had my first job as a Nursery Aid before I attended at a Community College in Florida. I worked at the Nursery for three to four months before I started college. When I started at the college I was a full-student. My second job was work with a Temporary Employment Agency called Accustaff. I had different jobs with them. I was a cleaning and checking suitcases, recieving clerk, checking food packing, and putting labels or tags on clothes. My second job was working at United States Postal Services. I was working as a temporary Postal Clerk. This job lasted longer than any other job I had. It lasted about two years. I have also did a little fast-food as a Customer Service Rep. making sandwiches or french fries. These were jobs I had before I got my Associate in Arts degree! My most recent thing I have done last year was some Volunteer work at a Art Museum. I volunteered as a office aid and help with a Art project. I have had what I would call a real spotty and unsual job history. Now I have been putting in applications and submitting resumes online to Michael's Arts and Crafts,Home Depot, Sears, Reichard Staffing, CitiTrends, and etc. I'm really interested in Art related(creative) artistic job or something clerical in a beauty department, gallery or company. I do NOT want Warehouse or cleaning job. If anyone can give me some positive suggestions that can help me consider what I could look into or apply to. I have also been looking in Sunday and Monday newspaper in Classical ads for jobs that are hiring. I did not find too many that were appealing to me. My brother told me it is better to look in the Sunday paper Classical Ads for jobs and choose which ones I may be interested sending my resume to. I have only highlighted about two things which was Library/bookeeping or teach aid. The second one was Part-time receptionist. I'm not so sure about these because I would think you have to have at least a year of experience working in them. I know I have the education. I have an Associate's in Art degree but not enough experience. I had little experience with nursery. If anyone can offers some positive suggestion on what I can look into oor apply that may help please let me know. I have been feeling pretty apprehensive and lost as to what jobs would most likely be suited for me since I have little experience along with my interest. I would appreciate your help! If someone can give me some good and interesting advice or points than you may get 5 stars! No rude answers! Thanks for your time!

What should I do? I need a job and I am not looking for some small crappy job im looking for a job that will lead me into a career. Here's what i've been thinking about-plumber, electrician, postal worker, office job. Most of them pay good but I dont know which one to pick, heck I dont even know if I want one of those jobs, what can I do? How am I suppose to know what im suppose to be doing?
How does a citizen file a formal complaint against a local post office for poor service? I am sure that I have seen a complaint form, but not recently. Are there on line forms to print out or email? We live in a small town, and some of the postal employees are getting old and are rude and inconsiderate, acting like they are doing us a favor to do their civil service job which most people would be thrilled to have! But it's worse than that... Our packages are delivered to the post office: we do not have door-to-door mail service. The postal employees insert a card in our post office box, letting us know to pick up packages. Lately, it seems they often don't bother. When the parcel is a few days late in arriving, we ask and they mysteriously appear back there after they search around for awhile. We have paid for First Class or Priority Mail, and by that time, we have actually received our shipment much later, and may as well have paid for the sluggish Parcel Post. When I pay for Delivery Confirmation, they will actually scan the packages but not deliver them! I'll go on their website, and it will say it was delivered yesterday, but I have not received it! When I complain, it's just oh well, here it is. I think they need to be reported to a higher authority. So.... how do I do that? I have searched on the USPS website, and cannot find a thing there.
could i work 2 jobs one 11-pm to 7a.m 6 days a week and another 930 am to 630 pm 5 days a week? i need the extra money so i can move out my parents home im 20 both jobs are postal related dealing with mail one is in a big factory the other small office building i want to do both for like a month and thenquick the morning one in sept. would i be getting enough sleep on like 4 hours. is it possible cause its for a short period of time and i get days off? anyone think i should do it?
What is the title of the book to study for the US Postal Exam? There are several different books out there that offer study guides for taking the US Postal exam. I want to know what is the correct book to buy or check out at the library? Does it also take long to get a job if you pass the test? I want to work inside the post office and not a carrier. Thanks!!
Can postal workers do this in the town they work in? Can they ask out residents out on dates if they are their mail carrier ? Is it appropriate for postal workers to mix social/romance on the job ? A mailman asked me out once and he dropped off a letter telling me to call him in a pink envelope - now everytime I go downtown or to the post office - he keeps staring at me and it makes me really uncomfortable. Maybe he has a crush on me but this is just awkward
what job could i try to get in a post office? I want to work 8 hours a ay, 5 days a week, make good pay and have benefits... What would be a good job for me to try for in the postal, service? Please help, noone knows or will tell me this answer. I have been a PMR for over a year.

I recently applied with the United States Postal Service for Casual and have questions regarding it. See below Ok I went in to my local postal office as instructed t o do so and feeled out all the paperwork, everything the same day this past Wednesday. It is for Casual. What all does Casual consist of? I went in Thursday morning to take the required drug test for employmet with the postal service. So basically about how long now should it be before I hear something back from them as far as employment goes? I live in Baton Rouge, LA so based on my city exactly what would i expect to make based on per hour and yearly? I'm currently 19 yrs old and have been out of serious work for over 10 months and this jobs would be aesome as its a federal job with lots of benefits plus I could pay for my college education myself without a financial aid loan plus I could start saving up for a house and pay cash for it. Also after 6 months I could take a test to become a career mail career rather than a casual one so would in being a career mail carrier after passing the test would i be certified?
Does anyone know who would represent a contracted Postal Worker.? There's alot of "stuff" going on at a U.S. Postal Office that has contracted carriers----the Post "Master" has not only threatened other employees, but has not been "professional" to customers, in which this person has been called on, but, the other 2 persons higher then her are not even following protocall. The Post "Master" has been reported to police and everything. Okay so that's a little bit of information---so what I'm looking for is a Lawyer who will help these people, "They Lost their contracts" this PM is a real "PEACH" she took their jobs--In which case they have had for 10+....the "contractors" Has never had a problem, and there has been letters and phone calls and such, on their behalph.....she has Broken the law, and needs to be punnished, except what they need is a GOVERNMENT official, because the US Post Office is Government. If there is anyone out there with any idea of who would go against other Gov. people- Justice needs to be served. Thanks so much. Yes, that was done, and still did not follow protocall, but thank you for your answer. Does anyone know who would be the highest to go to? Someone Who Has to follow protocall? OR is this a hard to find lawyer for a situation like " Sexual Harrassment" In the United States Services..IE-Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force..ect....Any ideas, I'm open to answers, and Thanks again for answers, I really appreciate it. I did forget--the NO TOLERANCE--issue--And of course Bodily Harm---well, the list goes on, but it seems they go follow "The chain of command" But they turn a blind eye, or pass the buck." This is a really messed up Postal-County. Thanks again for your answers.
Question for people who work at the post office? I'm getting ready to take the postal exam 473 and i'm hoping to get a job there. I heard that they changed a few things there like they don't pay for overtime anymore and some more things like that. Can someone tell me the other things that they had changed. The more detail in your answer the better.
