Why are the U.S. Postal Workers backing Obama ? I have noticed many "U.S. Postal Workers Backing Obama" signs. The U.S. Post Office is a Federal Agency, and a non bias one. So who deemed the postal worker to be Obama supporters ? My apologies - I should have stressed that these signs are made specifically for the U.S. Post office. They are not "Obama" signs. They are professionally prepared signs that state "U.S. Postal Workers Backing Obama."
Can the U.S. postal service refuse to give you your mail at post office? As of yesterday we we're informed that mail delivery to our residence would cease until we provided the post office with proof of our dog's license and vaccination records. However, after visiting the post office to pick up the mail we we're told that they would not give us our mail even if we pick it up ourselves until the license and vaccination issues we're resolved. Is this legal? I can understand their refusal to deliver mail, but it seems unconstitutional to withhold anybody's mail which may contain vital medical information. Can anyone shed any light on this issue? Thanks...
What do you think of what Congress is doing to the Post Office? Congress is clamping down on the Post Office again. To save money, the U.S. Postal Service is proposing to deliver mail at about the same speed it delivered mail when it was first founded, back in 1775. This is going to ruin businesses like Netflix. Have you called your Congress members to let them know you don't want this? Please do! Carolers sent packing out of the U.S. Post Office. Scowling Manager throws them out? A group of Christmas carolers was thrown out of a U.S. Post Office in Silver Spring, MD, after the post office manager told them they were not allowed to sing Christmas carols on government property. A spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service confirmed the incident occurred Saturday at a branch office in the Aspen Hill Shopping Center. A trio of carolers walked into the building dressed in attire reminiscent of Charles Dickens and began singing. “They were only a few notes into their carol when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a scowling postal manager rushing to confront the carolers,” said JP Duffy, who was standing in a line with his wife and two-year-old daughter. Duffy, who also happens to be a staff member of the Family Research Council, said he was stunned by what happened next. “He told them that they had to leave immediately because they were violating the post office’s policy against solicitation,” Duffy said. “He told them they couldn’t do this on government property. He said: ‘You can’t go into Congress and sing and you can’t do it here either.’” A spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service’s Capital Metro ARea said the carolers had “beautiful voices” but were told they could not perform in the lobby. Is this no longer a God Fearing nation like our Democratic forefathers dreamnt?
Why hasn't the U.S Post Office kept up? We live in an era of amazing technology. Logistics has been revolutionized. Yet, the U.S. Postal Service employs approx the same number of people as it did in 1980. Now, I will point out that they have cut nearly 200K jobs since the peak in '99. But what else is standing in the way? They keep raising the postage cost, but the service gets no better. They sell our information (Privacy Act), but the service gets no better. http://www.usps.com/postalhistory/ratesandhistoricalstatistics.htm
Does anyone know who would represent a contracted Postal Worker.? There's alot of "stuff" going on at a U.S. Postal Office that has contracted carriers----the Post "Master" has not only threatened other employees, but has not been "professional" to customers, in which this person has been called on, but, the other 2 persons higher then her are not even following protocall. The Post "Master" has been reported to police and everything. Okay so that's a little bit of information---so what I'm looking for is a Lawyer who will help these people, "They Lost their contracts" this PM is a real "PEACH" she took their jobs--In which case they have had for 10+....the "contractors" Has never had a problem, and there has been letters and phone calls and such, on their behalph.....she has Broken the law, and needs to be punnished, except what they need is a GOVERNMENT official, because the US Post Office is Government. If there is anyone out there with any idea of who would go against other Gov. people- Justice needs to be served. Thanks so much. Yes, that was done, and still did not follow protocall, but thank you for your answer. Does anyone know who would be the highest to go to? Someone Who Has to follow protocall? OR is this a hard to find lawyer for a situation like " Sexual Harrassment" In the United States Services..IE-Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force..ect....Any ideas, I'm open to answers, and Thanks again for answers, I really appreciate it. I did forget--the NO TOLERANCE--issue--And of course Bodily Harm---well, the list goes on, but it seems they go follow "The chain of command" But they turn a blind eye, or pass the buck." This is a really messed up Postal-County. Thanks again for your answers.
Why do Postal Services deny unsigned and independent musicians the right to own a private mailbox? Hello, I would like to make a brief introduction about myself. I am the lead singer/vocalist in a rock/pop band, The Embezzles, (name have been changed quite a few times within the past few months)and we’re very similar to Paramore and Linkin Park. We’re sort of a big deal in East Texas with an increasing fan base which continues to grow expendably great but we have a big problem communicating and contacting fans. We’ve tried everything from Post Office boxes, Private Mailboxes and social networking sties. Unfortunately, the Postal Services are on shaky ground. Postal Services have rules and regulations to combat mail fraud and other crimes committed using postal and private mailboxes which sounds convincing but the postal services are on the wrong side here. Rather than protecting privacy they are seeking to invade it and rather than allowing some consumer choice they are looking to stifle what little competition exists. Unfortunately, scam artists also utilize the convenience of private mailboxes to hide illegal activities, such as credit card fraud, identity theft and schemes to swindle the elderly. In other words or simple terms, P.O. boxes and Private Mailboxes are growing concerns of the postal services used in order to single out P.O. boxes and PMB(private mailboxes) who have personal accounts instead of business accounts. We would like to have an address rather than using one of our own physical home address because you guys are aware of fans(groupies) can be a bit psychotic at times when bands are in the limelight destined for stardom. Instead of selling merchandise, passing out flyers, etc. from our tour van/hotel (lol) J, we decided that we want to be able to reach fans outside of our 100 mile radius giving fans the opportunity to write personal letters to one our band members, pics or whatever the fans want to give their favorite band (The Embezzles ) <<<<<promotion tactic>>>>>,in order to converse on numerous occasions, but we do not want to give the government or postal office or any carrier service speculations or any misleading ideas that we are subjecting to a scheme to earn money or somehow get personal information from individuals. All we want is to build a connection with our fans in order to solidify our relationships to remind them of upcoming tour dates, nearby performances, or any updates we might have in order to refresh the memories of our fans. We were recommended on some international mail forwarding service sites but getting an international P.O. or Private box seems a little suspect, wouldn’t you agree? Although they offer great services they only require your personal information….sometimes to much information. I have scavenged many postal services sites and some websites seem a bit puzzling. Even though they have U.S. Postal Forms and identification requirements they false advertise and some sites even have numerous complaints from previous customers. If I were to come across one of these misleading websites how would I be able to recognize a true and faithful postal or forwarding service from any other website posing as a legit mail forwarding service? Are there any services that allows you to apply online if so this would be my first option to cut out the hassle and run around the postal services have been giving us. Thanks for your all your time and help.
U.S. Postal Service is now privately owned. Who owns it? I have asked before, but people keep telling me the government owns the post office. The postal employees tell me that it is no longer a governmental agency. I have also been told by other people that it is privately owned. I want to know who to contact OVER the people a complaint will go to from their website. What company or corporation do the postal offices report to?
Killer airplane trail? yesterday, my i went with my aunt towards the L.A.X. airports local U.S. postal office, only open till 11,and she needed to send something urgent. bored , i walked outside, after waiting & watching a few planes go on by, i noticed they left the trail of condensation i guess , but after the plane had gone on about 200 meters, i looked up randomly and i saw the same exact trailings whizzing only a few hundred feet from the ground. i swear it was the trails only because it was traveling so fast and it suddenly dissappeared. it happened again only with another airplane that was leaving no trail, after going further ahead, the airplanes thunderous noise came back and sounded like it was going in a circle, and then suddenly stop. it wasn't scary or anything,or at least i didn't think i should have been scared . i was just wondering if anyone could explain it or maybe say if they have experienced similar.
How to work in Postal office? How do i apply a job in USPS? their website has almost no job opening in the whole U.S. I look for applying like carrier or work in the postal office? how do i apply?
Is it cool for a mailperson to use my mail as an umbrella!? It was raining this one day, and this mail person use my mail as an umbrella! She covered her head with my mail! I dont know about you but, that is not cool! At all and now my mail is as wet as can be! How should I complain to the U.S. Postal Office and who should I complain too?
Can I buy a postal order in the U.S.? I'd like to buy a postal order, but I am wondering if I can go to the post office in the U.S. and purchase one? Thanks in advance Also would I be able to send it anywhere outside the U.S.
Why do conservatives want to cut funding for the U.S. Post Office? The US Post Office only lost $8.5 billion in 2010. Conservatives always try to make it sound like other companies like UPS, FedEx or DHL are actually turning a profit -- which we all know isn't true since those companies charge less for shipping than US Mail AND they don't deliver on Saturday without a surcharge. I suspect the real reason is conservatives want to break up the postal service union. What is your take on this issue? Progressive Liberal
Does the U.S. Postal Service ship Saturdays? I get confused between UPS and USPS, i ordered something and on order tracking it says. At U.S. Postal Service facility, Arrived at local Post Office - Allow one to two additional days for delivery. That was of yesterday, so could i receive it today? (Saturday) Thanks
Isn't the post office supposed to scan in a package when you drop it off even if it's "pre paid" online? Yesterday I dropped off some pre-paid (online) Priority Mail packages at the Post Office. He didn't scan them and I asked if he would. He said that when you pay/print shipping labels online you get a discount and because of that they're "not supposed" to scan them when you bring them in. This seems unreasonable and ridiculous to me. Any other shipping service will scan a package as soon as it's received. Now I've got somebody that I've sent a package to internationally on June 3rd and he can't even bring up tracking information that says it was shipped because it STILL says: "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on June 3, 2010 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS". Was the worker right or wrong? Response to answers: Well, I shipped a package International Priority Mail to another country. It was never scanned into the system apparently because there's no tracking information - it doesn't even state that the package was accepted by the post office and it's been almost ten days. I read the FAQ online and it specifically states that the SCAN form is for scanning at the retail counter or by a letter carrier to register acceptance of the package.
Is U.S. Priority International Postage safe? I've sent 2 packages to Mexico on 2 separate days almost 1 month ago. See attached tracking info. The packages never got delivered. I called the post office and was told there's no tracking on the packages once it leaves the country. Based on the information from the USPS website, there's no evidence it ever left U.S.! I paid $10.40 for each package and there were some valuables insides as well....of course it was not insured but I want to know if I'm eligible to get a refund for the 2 x $10.40 or $20.80 at least. Is the U.S. Post Office responsible for lost packages on Priority International Mail? The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on March 28, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. No further information is available for this item.
Who owns the U.S. Postal Service? I have had some problems with a supervisor at the local post office and would like to file a complaint. I have sent one through the website, but have not received an acknowledgment of them having gotten the complaint. If they do nothing about this, I want to know who owns the U.S. Postal Service. I'm sure there is an office somewhere that all of the various branches have to report to and I want to know their name and contact information. Contrary to what a lot of people believe, the U.S. Postal Service is NOT a governmental agency any longer. Ask your postmaster. It is now privately owned.
some question about U.S postal service job? I apply for the U.S postal service job on-line for few mouths already, however I have ever been revice any notices or letters form them regarding the ex-am. Do people usually apply in thier local post office?so they will set up the interview directly for them? I want to know how does this work?

I sent a package via the U.S. Postal Service and I dropped it off LATE LATE Monday night.? I purchased the postage from inside the post office lobby (they have those automated machines) I also dropped the package off in the mail slot for packages (also in the lobby of the post office) I purchased the "Priority Mail" postage and used the priority mail BOX. Its going from Orlando Florida to Lake Mary Florida (about 30 -45 mins away) How many days should it take? It was dropped off at 11:45 pm on Monday night... When should the reciepient have my package?
Help with econ question? how has email affected the elasticity of demand for traditional mail provided by the u s postal office?
On paypal my ebay item tracking says "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified.."? The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on December 15, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. Does this mean he hasnt even brought my item to the post office? I paid for this item on the 14th, and he said he would ship within two days... Wow, how nice. I have been busting butt getting all of my buyers items out the following day to ensure they have their items as soon as possible.
Why is the post office losing so much money? I realize that online payments, the economic downturn, which has reduced the amount of junk mail sent out, along with texting and e-mail have impacted the post office. However, it seems like the post office is in more trouble than one would expect even with all the changes due to technology. Are there other reasons, aside from perhaps increased fuel prices for shipping, that are really hurting the U.S. postal system?
Can I send candles to brazil using the U.S Postal Service? I'd like to send a yankee candle gift to my friend who just moved to brazil. I tried to look on the USPS website and couldnt find info about it. I checked here: http://pe.usps.com/text/imm/ab_028.htm. I'm considering calling my local post office about it tomorrow since business hours are close. Thanks for any help you can offer. I greatly appreciate it!
What kind of drug test does the post office use? What kind of drug test does the post office use? My sisters boy friend just got a job offer for a rural carrier. Now he is freaking out because he thinks the post office does hair folical testing... does anybody know what kind of drug test the U.S. Postal Service uses???
Printing shipping label help from ebay? i just recently sold a gameboy advance game on ebay and preparing to ship it to the person. when i went to the U.S. postal office to ask them how much it would cost they said just put it in an envelope and it would cost you $1.99. so do i have to print a shipping label from ebay because it said that it was $5 for me to print it from ebay or can i just send the person their item in the envelope??? please help this is the first time i'm selling something on ebay. thanks!!!!!!!
Any U.S. postal workers out there?!? Does anyone know if it would be sufficient enough to put 2 U.S. postage stamps for a letter traveling from New Jersey, U.S., to Ontario, Canada? Or would it be betterto just take it to the post office? The reason I ask is because I thought too deeply about it. Essentially if I just put two stamps on it, the U.S. is being paid to deliver it on their end, but does the postal service in Canada get paid? If taken to the post office and given an internatonal stamp, does it cover the cost for both countries? Food for thought anyway.
Is it time to privatize the U.S. Postal Service? Lets face it, UPS is better at packages, Fedex is better at overnight, and the lines at the post office are the worst they've ever been. It's clear postal managment has no clue how to run a business. Isn't it time to put this dinosaur to sleep?
If illegals are sending billions out of the country, how is this helping our economy? Illegal aliens are sending billions upon billions of dollars to home countries, how does this effect our economy? How can the pro-illegals claim they are helping the economy when we cannot afford this amount to leave our economy? Isn't this the main reason some of these countries encourage illegals to come here? What is your solution? __________________________________________________________________________ It is estimated that worldwide remittances amount to more than $126 billion. Remittances have become a considerable force in the economy of many countries. Among the countries that receive the most in remittances are Mexico, the Philippines and India. Last year Mexico received more than $17 billion in remittances. The amount of remittances in Mexico exceeds the amount of foreign direct investment in the country. This is not surprising given that a significant portion of Hispanics in the United States are of Mexican descent. Other Latin American countries like El Salvador are popular destinations for remittances. In 2005 approximately $2.5 billion was sent to El Salvador. The amount represented more than 13% of El Salvador’s GDP, or gross domestic product. It is estimated that Latin Americans residing in the United States send $30 billion dollars to their native countries. ===================================================== As U.S. economy worsens, illegal aliens send even more money back home By Dave Gibson, Immigration Reform Examiner May 5th, 2011 5:15 am ET .. On Monday, the Central Bank of Mexico reported that remittances or wire transfers to Mexico increased by 5.48 percent between January and March over the same period in 2010. In the first quarter of the year, remittances rose to $5.1 billion, from the $4.83 billion in the first three months of 2010. The announcement further confirms the results of Pew Hispanic Center study released in late 2010, which found that while every demographic of native-born workers has lost millions of jobs during this deep recession, foreign-born workers have actually increased their employment numbers. Since June 2009, immigrants (including illegal aliens) have gained 656,000 jobs, while U.S. born workers lost 1.2 million jobs during that same period. The Pew study found that 57 percent of those that they refer to as “immigrant” workers, were actually non-citizens. Remittances, such as Western Union Moneygrams from the United States represent the second largest source of income for Mexico. In 2009, Mexican workers, mostly illegal aliens, sent home $21.2 billion in such transfers. The transfers are second only to Mexico’s oil industry in the amount of revenue produced, which is one of the chief reasons the Mexican government has no interest in working with U.S. authorities to police our common border. Furthermore, according to the Inter-American Development Bank, all of Latin America received $69.2 billion in remittances from the U.S. in 2009 alone. Thus, dispelling the myth that illegal aliens contribute a great deal to our economy. The fact is that the overwhelming amount of the wages earned by illegal aliens is not spent in this country, but simply sent back home. Read how even the U.S. Postal Service is contributing to this money drain: http://www.examiner.com/immigration-reform-in-national/u-s-post-office-now-enabling-illegal-aliens . Continue reading on Examiner.com: As U.S. economy worsens, illegal aliens send even more money back home - National Immigration Reform | Examiner.com http://www.examiner.com/immigration-reform-in-national/as-economy-worsens-illegal-aliens-send-more-money-back-home#ixzz1McGnBhws greasy/guapo - In this economy, where are illegals getting so much money that they can send it home and help the economy, especially since you and others claim they are only working jobs for a couple of dollars an hour? The u.s. postal service created a stamp earlier this year with a picture of president Bush to honor his? achievements while in office. However,it was found that in daily use the stamp was not sticking to the envelopes at all. So the President established a blue ribbon commission to determine the reason for such a defect. After a months testing ,the commission made the following findings 1.The stamp was found to be in perfect order. 2.There was nothing wrong with the consistency of the applied adhesive. 3.People were just spitting on the wrong side.

Sending someone a gift through the U.S. postal service? I've never mailed anything before other than a simple letter and I was going to send my girlfriend a this Zune she wanted but I have know Idea what kind of envelope I need to send it in or if i'm able to send it in a standard post office mail box or if i even should. Your comments will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
What has happened to the U. S. Postal "Service"????? In light of the proposed postage increase, this just after the one back in January, I find that the service gets worse all the time. Our mail is never put up in the boxes until 10:30 a.m. Not one day goes by that we don't get someone else's mail in our box. Wonder who got my mail? I paid over $6 for a certified letter to be mailed, only to receive an unsigned unpostmarked "receipt" card in my box. Oh, last month I received a Christmas card postmarked December 12 from Arkansas to Oklahoma.... Today, I accidently left my post office box key in my desk when I went to get the mail. I live in a town of 20,000 and have for over 45 years. I have registered my name on my post office box registration. I have a driver's license, yet they refused to retrieve my mail. I had to resort to driving another six mile round trip back with the key. I was so angry, I was shaking. What as consumers can we do to take action? Remember when postage was 10 cents and the postman actually worked
I've lost my package throught the U.S. Postal service? Coming home from overseas at the last minute... I had my friend shipped my package from a military base and still haven't recieved them. He contacted the post office and said a "tracer" was sent out for the items but with no results . Does anyone have any suggestions for retrieving lost items shipped through the post office?I don't want monetary compensation..I just want my collections of music cd's (10 years worth)
u s postal service tampering? If you put a letter in the mail box can you ask for it back? or is it now the custody of the post office to deliver to the intended recipient? Thanks
U.S. Postal Service Drop Box? I had to send back a cell phone because I recieved a replacement. I sent it in a small box with the shipping label on it and etc. I had a family member take it to the post office and drop it in the large collection box. I ended up receiving 2 more replacement phones that I had to send back. When I went to the post office I noticed that it said don't put anything in here if it is more than 13 oz. My box is 1lb. 7.5oz. I guess you have to take it up to the person at the counter. My questions....(finally) What happened to my box? Do you think they still sent it? It didn't have stamps on it. Just the prepaid label that the cell phone company sent with it. Thanks in advance!! It was mailed Saturday, September 8th..... but I still haven't gotten it back. But I mailed it at a post office 2 hours away....so maybe I'll get it soon.
U.S postal service job ads on internet? i came across a ad that says post office jobs and it states the requirements at least 18 yr old. us citizen GED or HS diploma etc. they charge $109.00 to prepare you for the test. if in case you don't pass the test or get hired, you'll receive a refund for your money. Are these ads legit?
The U.S. Postal Service.............? is facing increased competition from firms providing overnight delivery of packages and letters. Additional competition has emerged because messages can be sent over computers and fax machines. What will be the effect of this competition on the market demand for mail delivered by the post office?
Have you lost personal package by U.S. postal service??? I'm waiting for one package like more than 3 weeks, but it hasn't come yet.:-( I sent it from FL to NY for moving. I called post office and they gave me a investigation number but nothing change! I'm afraid that post office lost my package! Let me know If you had that kind of experience n what did you solve it????
U.S. Postal Service delivery question? I was supposed to receive my passport from the passport office on the 27th. They sent me an email stating that it HAD been delivered, and gave me a USPS tracking number to confirm it. It says it was delivered, but I did not receive any mail on Saturday, NOTHING. Not even a flyer, which is highly unusual. And I was home all day, so I know nothing came to the house. So what should I do? I mean, I gotta have that passport, but there is no way I will pay for another one whne the post office messed up. What's my next course of action? I've already called the Post Office, and they said they had a sub working that day, so they don't know what happened to it. The postal service has to be held accountable, SOMEHOW. I just want to know how.
What has the U.S. Postal Service done?!? This USPS sent my first envelope to the wrong address and know they seem to have screwed up my second attempt as well. My status for this package on track and confirm is NOTICE LEFT: We attempted to deliver your item at 11:15 AM on March 21, 2009 in DALLAS, TX 75243 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later. I was told by customer service that it was actually delivered to the post office not the recipient and should be on its way to the correct address. (The zip code it is shown as being delivered to is not the one of the recipient whom I'm trying to get the envelope to)First of all I used priority mail for both envelopes and for this one I even put the 4 digit zip code! What is wrong here? I was assured by cutomer service that the envelope would eventually be delivered to the correct address and that both packages were actually delivered to the post office not the recipient. First can someone explain exactly what happened to the envelope to me with all the notice left stuff??? And if something is shown as being Delivered on track and confirm doesn't that mean it was delivered to the recipient? If it were actually at the post office like the rep said wouldn't the status be arrival at unit rather than delivered?? Someone please explain to me what happened here???
Is the U.S. Postal Service THIS slow? Please help? I am very sad and upset. I sent my 11 year old son, who is living in Columbus, OH ...2 big boxes of Christmas gifts LAST MONDAY. I sent them 'priority' but was not offered a way to track the packages by having them signed for. Maybe it was the long lines but I don't recall being offered or mentioning getting insurance on it. My ex told me that the postman didn't see the packages and wouldn't have left them in his door, he would've taken them back to the post office. I called my post office who called theirs and said it shouldv'e been there. It's been 1 week and he still didn't get his gifts. There were some very sentimental things in the box and I am very nervous! I am I trippin'? Anyone else have any probs shipping anything?
Are the people making these threats "patriots"? The backlash: Reform turns personal By: Jake Sherman and Marin Cogan http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=8DB34C71-18FE-70B2-A820DB90C45EC159 March 24, 2010 04:51 AM EDT Reps. Louise Slaughter and Bart Stupak have received death threats. A tea party participant published what he thought was Rep. Thomas Perriello’s home address and urged disgruntled voters to “drop by” for a “good face-to-face chat.” Vandals broke windows at Slaughter’s office in New York and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’s office in Arizona. And angry voters are planning to protest this weekend at the home of Steve Driehaus — who’s already seen a photograph of his children used in a newspaper ad published by reform opponents. The vitriolic health care debate has become personal — too personal, say House Democrats who voted for the bill and now find not just themselves but their families in the cross hairs of opponents. Slaughter, a Democrat who chairs the House Rules Committee, said a caller to her office last week vowed to send snipers to “kill the children of the members who voted yes.” Her office reported the call to police, who were dispatched to provide protection for Slaughter’s grandchildren. She has also been in touch with the FBI and U.S. Postal Service inspectors, who intercepted a letter en route to her home in upstate New York. Stupak, the Michigan Democrat whose last-minute compromise on abortion guaranteed passage of the bill Sunday, said callers have left messages for him saying, “You’re dead; we know where you live; we’ll get you.” “My wife still can’t answer the phone,” Stupak told POLITICO on Tuesday. The messages are “full of obscenities if she leaves it plugged in. In my office, we can’t get a phone out. It’s just bombarded.” Stupak, a former police officer, said he’s not fazed by the threats or by the prospect of protests at his district office this weekend. “I’ve looked down barrels of guns,” he said. “I’ve talked my way out of it.” But Democrats said their political opponents go too far when they bring members’ families into the fray. Driehaus, a Democrat from Ohio, was outraged last week when a group called the Committee to Rethink Reform used a photo of him and his two young daughters in a newspaper ad urging him to vote against any health care reform bill that included federal funding for abortion. Both the group and the newspaper — the Cincinnati Enquirer — apologized for including Driehaus’s daughters in the ad. “I’m very protective of my family, like most of us,” Driehaus said Tuesday. “There is no reason for my wife and kids to be brought into any of this. If people want to talk to me, if people want to approach me about an issue, I’m more than happy to talk about the issue, regardless of what side they’re on. But I do believe when you bring in a member’s family, that you’ve gone way too far.” Driehaus faults Republicans for providing encouragement to the most extreme opponents of reform. Last week, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) warned that anti-abortion Democrats would suffer politically if they voted for the health care bill; he singled out Driehaus, saying he “may be a dead man” and “can’t go home to the west side of Cincinnati” because “the Catholics will run him out of town.” “Mr. Boehner made comments about me and my predicament when I go home which I felt were wildly out of bounds for his position and very irresponsible, quite frankly. He’s from next door. That’s not helpful. That’s irresponsible,” Driehaus said. Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said, “The leader does not condone violence, and his remark was obviously not meant to be taken literally. He is urging Americans to take the anger they’re feeling and focus it on building a new majority that will listen to the people.” No one condones death threats against members or their families, but not everyone is apologetic about taking complaints about health care reform straight to the homes of members. Mike Troxel, an organizer for the Lynchburg Tea Party, posted what he believed to be Perriello’s home address on his blog this week, sarcastically urging other tea partiers to stop by and “say hi and express their thanks regarding his vote for health care.” The address turned out to be the home of Perriello’s brother — who has four children — but Troxel told POLITICO he didn’t intend to remove it from his blog. “If they would like to provide me with the address of Tom, then I’d be more than happy to take it down,” he said. “I have no reason to believe it’s not his house.” A fellow tea party blogger said he thought it was fine for Troxel to post Perriello’s home address. “They have our home addresses,” said Kurt Feigel, who complained that protesters had little choice but to go to Perriello’s home because Perriello’s office doesn’t “respond to e-mail; they don’t respond to letters; they don’t respond to us showing up at his office. So what am I going to do?” Per
What would u prefer...One day a week less for postal delivery or a rise in postage stamps? Postgae stamps tied to cost of living increases!... Is this fair as the government is considering a huge multi-billion dollar bail out package for the big corporations. Shouldn't the needs/costs of the Post Office be included in the bailout package? Stamp Prices Set for Another Hike By RANDOLPH E. SCHMID, AP posted: 7 HOURS 47 MINUTES AGOcomments: 0PrintShareText SizeAAAWASHINGTON (Feb. 11) -The post office will get an extra 2-cents worth when you mail a letter starting in May. The U.S. Postal Service announced Tuesday that the price of a first-class stamp will rise to 44 cents on May 11. That gives plenty of time to stock up on Forever Stamps, which will continue to sell at the current 42-cent rate until the increase occurs. They will remain valid in the future regardless of rate hikes. "The Postal Service is not immune to rising costs which are affecting homes and businesses across America today," said Postmaster General John Potter. "Even with the increases, the Postal Service continues to offer some of the lowest postage prices in the world." Postage rates go up annually in May, with the new prices announced in February. The overall change is tied to the rate of inflation in the year before. While the new 44-cent rate covers the first ounce of first-class mail, the price for each additional ounce will remain unchanged at 17-cents. Postal officials estimate the increase will cost the average household $3-a-year. Buffeted by rising costs and declining mail volume, the Postal Service lost $2.8 billion last year and, unless the economy turns around, is headed toward much larger losses this year. The agency could have cited extraordinary circumstances and asked the independent Postal Regulatory Commission for larger increases, but officials felt that would only result in a greater decline in mail volume. The post office has been cutting costs, reducing work hours, and has asked Congress to ease requirements for advance funds for retiree benefits and to allow mail to be delivered five days a week instead of six. Other changes taking effect May 11: — The postcard stamp increases 1-cent to 28 cents. — The first ounce of a large envelope increases 5 cents to 88 cents. — The first ounce of a parcel increases 5 cents to $1.22. — New international postcard and letter prices are, for one ounce, 75 cents to Canada; 79 cents to Mexico; and 98 cents elsewhere. Most Postal Service shipping services prices were adjusted in January and will not change in May.

Why do they ask to look at your credit card when paying at the postal office? When I pay by credit card at the post office, they ask to look at the credit card, but don't even look at your ID. So I know they are not checking if it matches. At first I thought the person forgot, but this happened several times now, and just at the post office. No, the ask AFTER I run it through the machine already. And they don't re-run it through anything else. They just look at it and give it back, (they don't check the back for a signature either).
can i ask the postal office to identify a fake money order? I am selling paintings on craigslist for $300, although they are worth $300 each. What is the telephone number for France's postal customs office? A package was shipped from Maine, USA to me in Paris, France roughly two months ago. It has over $400 worth of medication in it and, more importantly, my journal. US customs is being contacted but I need to contact France's customs. I am unable to find a number online. I have tried going to the post office and have not been met with corporation. They have told me that they can't even check their system to see if it has arrived in the country and I simply have not been notified. Any help is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately my mother mailed it to me from the states and didn't get insurance or a tracking number. The US customs has already been contacted and they said that it was not stopped on their end but unfortunately we can't track it any further. I have no idea what I can do now. The post office won't help and I can't find contact info.....

Postal office forward my mail to another family!!? We just purchased and moved into this new house. But not a single piece of our mail has been sent to the house. After waiting for a couple of weeks, we finally figured out that the previous owner of the house had put a Transfer mail on this address, and the worst thing is he's got the same last name as we do. I went to the postal office and a guy there said there is nothing they can do. The previous owner had put a transfer for the whole family. And the postal office has some sort of automatic machine that sorts the mail according to the last name. The guy said a Transfer will last for over a year!!! How are we ever gonna get our mail back?!
