USA post office do not send things via surface anymore..... is their a private postal service that does this? I'm a Brit living in the USA, I'm frequently sending things to my family i.e. clothing, chocolate, books, photos etc. I used to send them via surface mail but now the US Postal Service has dropped surface mail and sends only via airmail. This is way too expensive for me to use. I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative? I cannot be the generous son/brother/uncle anymore as the airmail postage rates kills me. Do Canada's postal workers know where USA towns are located? If lets say there were no sticker or form that said "ship to USA" would Canada's post office personnel know that AL means Alabama and MI means Michigan and CA means California? As a USA citizen, I'd be scared to see what would happen to an important piece of mail that said Calgary, AB. And did not mention Canada. And had an invisible ink stamp or something? I was living in USA all my life. I met, fell in like/love with and had a baby bory with a British man.? To get to the point (this is a long one...so please bear with me even with my keeping out countless important details so I can get to the problem at hand. I can post later a question regarding those other vital pieces of the puzzle. When we came to England, myself and my 8 months old son at that time we were treated like royalty by his paternal grandmother, I ended up staying with my son for multi-reasons to date. Now, I had never travelled before outside of USA and having getting my passport and my baby's passport was new to me., but went to a postal service office who expedited the passports, and within 9 days we were on our way with our first ever passports. ***I had never known that a child of my son's age when he received his passport expires in "6 years", very unlike mine as an adult which is "10 years before expiration". Paternal grandmother got freaky and (yes I feel 100% responsible,-She offered at her idea to "hold" our passports in her safe for us whilst we "visit" here with her. (her son and i never married-and that was a smart move on my part-however I was asked continually to add his father's surname after my surname to my son's passport. As she convinced me with telling me i would be giving him countless opportunities by doing that because he would have dual nationalitiy privleges, and i would be silly not to take advantage of that for him-I never planned on adding his name with mine, for we would not be together forever in my eyes at that point unfortunately.) Are postal workers required by federal law to deliver all mail? I recently started attending school two hours away from home, and am using a friend's address to get all school-related mail, and recently, the carrier has been writing "put name on mailbox, or no more mail to this person will be delivered" and "No name on box, no mail, final notice!". My friends live in an apartment complex that has strict rules on number of occupants in an apartment, etc..., and cannot put my name on the mailbox, as it would get them into trouble. International Package? I need to send a hat (specifically a new-era hat) to my friend in Korea. I live in Houston, TX, USA and this is my first time sending something out internationally. will canada post do this? Hi, i was sending a small flashlight to the US, maybe about 200g. I brought it to the post office (i have never shipped to the US before), and the postal worker gave me a flat rate xpresspost USA envelope (one of the smaller ones), and mailed it. That was friday. I now realize that those envelopes are supposed to be only for documents and I never filled out a customs declaration form because the guy said it didnt need one. This seems weird to me that it doesn't need a customs declaration form. I realize maybe i should have mailed it expedited instead. Best way to get small packages to Thailand? OK guys - I got my visa and I'll be in Chiang Mai by mid August. Once or twice a year I will need to receive small packages or letters from the USA. What's the best way to do this? US Postal, UPS, FedEx? I believe that US Postal has the most reasonable costs. I once tried to send something via UPS to my son when he was traveling in Argentina. All I wanted to send was an ATM card, and they wanted close to $100.00. So, I used the US mail, and he got the package about 3 weeks later. The other unknown is a mailing address. Can I get General Delivery to Thai post offices? I would rarely need to receive mail so a PO box seems unnecessary. So, how do you get stuff from the USA with the least cost and hassle?

USA post office do not send things via surface anymore..... is their a private postal service that does this? I'm a Brit living in the USA, I'm frequently sending things to my family i.e. clothing, chocolate, books, photos etc. I used to send them via surface mail but now the US Postal Service has dropped surface mail and sends only via airmail.
