How well do mail order companies do with small ground covers, etc?

I was wishing to purchase some groundcover plants for my garden, but many of the local nurseries are out of or running low on the ground cover plants I am wishing to find. How well do mail order companies do with buying plants such as Heuchera, Coral Bells, Dicentra, etc? And do they have good quality plants all year? why and how so? also how are they on prices usually compared to nurseries usually? Thanks for your answers!

  1. I love using www.dutchgardens.com or www.burpee.com. The prices are comparable. You can usually find good deals at end-of-season plants or from buying several at a time. They ship when it's okay to plant what you order according to your zone and the time of year. Good luck!
  2. I have had some luck with shipping but its not always easy depending on what you are after and time of year, transportation times etc. try and choose hardy plants that can travel well!
