What time does mail have to be in the post office to be postmarked for that day?
I have to send in an application for a program I want to take and my application must be post-marked by April 7th and I can only send it in tomorrow. When should I mail the letter in order for it to be post-marked April 7th?

- Not sure about where you're from... but in Australia as long as you have it in the mail before the first pick up on 7th April then you're ok. Take note tho, it will be post-marked for the 7th April but probably won't arrive at it's destination until the next day (or Monday seeing as though the 7th april is on a Friday)
- you need it in a mailbox before last pick-up. it says right on the box when this is. or go to the post office before closing.
- Most mail will be postmarked that day if it is placed in the box before one of the listed collection times. The most reliable method of postmarking, though, is to hand it directly to a clerk and ask for it to be postmarked.
- If you are sending it from a public box make sure that you check the last pick up time. It's usually between 4 and 5 pm. If you are sending it from your house, make sure your mail carrier takes it when he delivers your mail. Either way, it'll be postmarked April 7. If you get a chance, try to drop it at a post office personally. You don't have to wait in line. There are usually slots in the lobby for outgoing mail. Just slide it in there.
