What can I do to cover a mail slot?
What can I do to cover a mail slot I no longer want to use on my front door? Can I buy a cover? I've gone to home depot and lowes and can't find what I need. Basically, I don't want to use my mail slot anymore and want some sort of fitting or brass sheet that I can screw in to cover the slot. Does this exist premade or will I need to find someplace that cuts metals and drills holes in it?

- They sell metal plates, like a door kick plate that you could screw over it but that won't be insulated to keep the cold out. Short of replacing the door, you could put a metal plate over the outside, put some insulation in the door and put another metal plate inside.
- put an address plate over it. the house or apt number will not look too out of place.
- Go back to Home Depot and ask for kick plates for doors and screw them over the opening or do what i would do and cut a piece of wood the size of the hole and thickness of the door and glue it into the hole, sand flush then skim coat with wood filler then lightly sand to blend to door surface and paint.
