Postal Letter

How many stamps do I need to mail a 9x12 in yellow envelope with 5 sheets of letter sized paper in it?

I am not really sure exactly how many 41 cents stamps I should put on this envelope. Also, can I just toss this in a mail box or do I have to go to a local postal office to mail it?
