What is the best e-mail application for Mac OS X?

Currently I use the e-mail client in Netscape 7.2. It seems somewhat dated, but it's what I've used for years. On my Mac I also have Mail (that comes with OS X) and Entourage (which comes with Microsoft Office). Both of them seem more advanced than Netscape. So I think it's time to switch. Also, I have downloaded Netscape 9 beta, and once the real version is released I will probably ditch 7.2 anyway. Any advice is appreciated.

  1. I recommend Mail (OS X) or Thunderbird, from Mozilla.
  2. I would recommend using Mozilla's Thunderbird. It's very well supported, very secure, free, and has dozens of add-ons to really tweak a mail program for your own personal customization. I use it on my mac, and I've never gone back to OSx mail or Entourage, etc.
  3. Thunderbird is very nice, and it's the successor to netscape mail. mail.app (apple's) is one of the cleanest standards based e-mail program on any platform. Entourage is the only way to talk to a corporate exchange server. Netscape will probably not include a mail program when 9 is released. since you already know Netscape mail, go for thunderbird.
