Postal Letter

Should these postal workers be allowed to hold us to ransom?

Just so thay can continue to get their perks from archaice working practices that shoild have been stopped years ago Just as an adendum, there are plenty of private companies willing to deliver the mail, maybe we should give private enterprise a chance.

  1. get the facts right first.gordon brown is screwing up there pension which they have PAID into and now he and his lousy government want them to pay for by paying in more , geting less when you retire, and working longer.what a cheek, wish there was a way we could have a performance related goverment , by god they mess themselves.
  2. I fully support the postal workers. Good luck to them. We live in a democracy, thank god.
  3. I did support them, until I found out that they can go home once they have finished their rounds, and even if it only took them 3 hours they still get paid for the full 8 hours. Then if they decide to carry on working or 'help' out after they finish their work, they get paid overtime pay even though it's still working within the 8 hours. Its an absolute joke!
  4. I think your attitude would change if it was your pension that was under threat!!! I'm not a postal worker but i FULLY support anyone who stands up for his/her rights against bully-boy tactics.... And by the way, those "archaice" practices were put in place for a reason.... (As was the minimum wage!) I agree to your right to moan about it, but you should see things from the GPO staffs point of view, they will DEPEND on this pension money to survive in retirement, the state pension is not likely to be enough... try some compassion..
  5. What has amazed me about the Royal Mail is they always seem to find a million pounds to pay for the Chief Executive or whatever his title is. The man holding this position at the moment, is Adam Crozier, a man who was sacked by the Football Association and then Whoosh he ends up at Royal Mail. If they want to save money, why not get rid of him for a start and employ someone doing his job, (which I am sure can't be as hard as getting up at 4am. in the middle of winter when it is raining or snowing and trudging the streets) for a far less salary. I do believe that there is someone out there who is more than capable of doing his job for a fraction of of £1million. As far as the posties themselves are concerned, they seem to me to be in a Catch 22 situation. The longer they strike, the more business the Post Office will lose and it follows on that more jobs will be lost. I am of the opinion that Gordon Brown has been told by the EU to break the Royal Mail and old 'Cyclops' will do anything they say and that is his intention. The EU wants the UK to have nothing of it's old institutions, no coal industry, no steel industry, no shipbuilding industry and now no Royal Mail. At a stroke it will do away with the "Royal" part of it which is another thing on the EU Agenda. They wish to get rid of all things associated with the Royal Family. I believe certain Institutions in the life of British subjects, should NOT have to run at a profit and the Royal Mail is one. It is something that we should have, our mail delivered in the morning and sometimes twice a day. We should be prepared to pay for it.and Posties should be paid a reasonable wage etc. Another is a safe, fast and efficeint rail service, but now everything must be cost effective. . .
  6. why not they have the same rights as every one else in the country
  7. They are not holding anyone to ransom ffs. I back them all the way.
  8. As an outsider all I KNOW is that the organisation is losing money much faster that one would expect. And it has some very outdated working practices indeed. Incidentally why are it's light vehicles driven so recklessly?
  9. I for one am not being held to ransom, most of my dealings are done on the net and apart from a few bills which I don't have the strike is having little or no effect. What these people fail to realise is there are thousands like me and all they are doing is bringing the day they have to sign on nearer.
  10. i will give you a letter to deliver to London from Glasgow for 30p
