Postal Letter

Does the postal worker ever feel guilt for putting junk mail in your mailbox?

And what would happen if someone asked a postal worker to not deliver to them sales fliers or "Have you seen this child"-type mail?

  1. Probably so, I know I would...junk mail is so damn annoying.
  2. they are probably told to by the city to deliver everything. i dont think that they can hold back some of your mail. and whats the harm of getting those anyways? start a recylce bin and take it in so that those papers can be reused.
  3. No they dont feel guilty...its their job and its actually against the law for them to not deliver it. If you asked them to stop they would tell you to call whoever is sending it and tell them to take you off their mailing list.
  4. Guilty or not, he or she is just doing the job - what the postal worker is paid to do. You are allowed to opt out of 'junk' mail deliveries, but you have to write or call Mail Preference Service. You can register for MPS two ways: Fill out the online form with all required information. There is a $1 fee, payable by credit card, which verifies your registration and helps to protect their system from fraud. DMA uses secure payment transaction processing to protect your credit card information. Registering online is the fastest way to see results. OR Fill out the mail-in registration form with all required information. Print the form and mail it with a $1 check or money order, payable to the Direct Marketing Association, to the address on the form. Processing by mail takes longer than online registration. 5. If you don't like it, it's up to you to send it back as 'undelivered' to the sender's address. I do this all the time, the postal workers are only doing their job.
  6. How can someone feel guilty for just doing their job? If you do not want door to door items then write to your delivery office and they will put a stop on them for your address.
  7. The postal workers have to deliver it for they have been paid to do so..via postal stamps..BUUTT..here is what I do..when I get junk mail that has a self addressed prepaid return envelope in it...I stick as much of my junk mail I receive from everywherem in the prepaid return envelope..and they have to pay by weight what you send back..usually it is common bulk mail rates for they expect only 1 or 2 sheets of paper or thier ads in it...They end up having to pay 10 times the amount of what they expected..soon they will take you off thier mailing list without asking them..keep a little notepad and jot down who you have sent this too and if you get any more from them..repeat the procedure...LOL I have had alot of junk mail senders receive a letter that resembled a pregnant football!!! I have sent this info to all my e mail contacts(361) to be excact and they have followed suit....If we all do this..just think ..at least we can make it costly to them and they will take ur address from thier list...
  8. this is a national crisis due to the 'bulk rate mail system',more trees are junked, our eco system is ruined, land fills overflowing and only a few people profit such as timber industry, papermaking mills with their dyes, acids and toxins and yes, this stuff does cause human health problems and not one person running for president would dare put a stop to it
