- Royal Mail are planning massive job cuts. That's why postal workers are having random 24 hour strikes. The Union, I think the CWU [Communications Worker's Union] took a vote of the membership which was in favour of strike action. Royal Mail has no protection from UK.gov., unlike the US Mail which is protected under the Constitution. I think we Brits have got it all wrong. Time for a revolution. When Royal Mail is in private hands, as it surely will be, you'll have to walk 20 miles to find a Post Office and a letter will cost £2 to send to the next town. Of course few people believe what I have said above. I know from a life of experience [66 years] that this is exactly what is going to happen because the greedy capitalists just cannot wait to get their hands on RM and tear it up, sell off the assets, which are considerable and charge us double to send a letter. Exactly the same thing happened with the sell off of our railways [British Railo] it was worth billions of billions but was sold for a few pence. Now you pay more to travel from London to Manchester than you do to fly to Athens. Same with water and gas. Both origainally owned lock stock and barrel by the British people. Now in foreign hands. They've sold off millions of acres of land to developers who have built expensive luxury houses which only the very wealthy can afford. Believe!
- I am not a Postman, so I asked mine for you. They are fed up about the way they are being treated. They have had all their allowances cut, and offered a rubbish pay rise. He (my postman) thinks it's all about getting their pension off them. Like alot of company Final Salary pension schemes their employer didnt pay in for about 14 years and pocketed the money, now their is a shortfall they don't want to make things right. So yes they feel they have little left to lose.
- sorry not a postie but a strong union man.like everything else in the u.k.they need less privatisation.no more closures of the local post offices.and less interferences .and proper pay structures.we the british people have a guts full this so -called labour government as they still not listening to the ones who put them into power.
