  1. you have to take the civil service exam
  2. Online you can look for jobs at usps.com and click the link careers. You need to take an exam to get on the register. When jobs open up you will be notified in the mail to take another test most likely or come in for an interview. There are different tests depending on the job you are applying for. Background checks, fingerprinting all that stuff. Some tests you take need an announcment # to be eligible to take them. Your local post office or mail processing plant might have the announcement # posted inside or on the door outside if the entrance is controlled. My job has a paper posted so people can see it from the outside. Good luck, its a good company to work for, but it does take a while to get hired on, it took me 5 months and i knew that they were hiring.
  3. Start here: http://www.usps.com/employment/search-jobs-online.htm Once you have the job number you want to apply for you have to register for their test. It is a 3 part test that they will schedule. https://uspsapps.hr-services.org/ If you are a veteran, you will get a "10 point preference" which means you will get 10 points added to your final score. This is the main employment page: http://www.usps.com/employment/welcome.htm?from=home&page=employment Good luck!
