Can UK Postal Orders be cashed at the post office?
I've got a postal order, which I'd like to cash at the post office, rather than paying it into my bank account like a cheque. Is this possible?

- I believe you should be able to do that, yes. check out the Royal Mails website to find out more.
- you can only cash it if it is not crossed, if it is crossed (and most are) then you have to pay it into an account
- yes they can
- yes just go to counter and ask for it in cash but there may be a surcharge
- yes you can do it
- Yes, it should be no problem. They will charge you a small amount to do it, though - after all, they've got to make money from it somehow.
- Yes, it is.
- you can only cash a postal order if it is uncrossed and anyone posting an order should make sure it is, have just lost one in the post for an ebay item, not only was it crossed but also printed with the recipients name, so totally uncashable, accept through the bank account, cheers!!
- only uncrossed postal orders can be cashed in at the post office and to the person it was made out to, also when you buy a postal order you pay poundage ie: £20 postal order cost you £20 plus 95p poundage.... when you cash your postal order in you will be given the face value £20. hope this helps and the are only valid for 6 months
- That's why it's called a 'postal' order...
- yes you can just go to post offıce
- Yes this is possible.
- yes you can if not crossed, if crossed you will need to pay into your bank and wait for it to clear like a cheque. there is no charge to you as whoever bought the postal order pays extra to face value.
- yes but you need some form of I.D
- The post office is the place to buy and yes cash your postal orders. The only thing i would suggest is that if the amount is over £50 then you need to take id with you, as they have asked for id with most item over £50 due to fraud. This would be the standard id of pass port, driving licence anything with a signature.
