i have some questions about mail and the postal service in italy.?

how long would it take for a postcard or letter to be sent from italy to the west coast or east coast of the USA? are there stamps in italy? how do i go about mailing a postcard? do i get a stamp and then put the letter in a mailing box or do i go directly to the post office?

  1. our post service kinda sucks,so ur pcard may take from two weeks to two months to arrive and it doesn't just depends by the distance,bt mostly by the lazyness of the workers..... btw yes, there r stamps in Italy,u cna buy them at the "tabaccai" (<<<those who sell sigarettes)...they have a big "T" outside the shop. tell them where from u need the stamp and they'll give u the right one-ones (u may need more than 1). u can mail the Pcard in one of the red boxes u can find almost everywhere (mostly right out the "tabaccaio"). the box has two "windows",mail ur cards in the RIGHT one (the left 1 is for letters to be delivered in the city u'r in,the right one is for any other destination). hope i helped, tc!
  2. The post in Italy can be very slow. However, normally it takes a week. At times it can be longer. Yes, there are stamps in Italy! A postage stamp costs 85-90 cents to send a postcard to the USA. You can buy stamps at tabacchi shops(black and white sign with T) or at the post office. There are mail boxs all over Italy. Their mailboxes are red. There are two slots ... one is for local or Italian mail the other is for all other mail.
