Postal Letter

International Package?

I need to send a hat (specifically a new-era hat) to my friend in Korea. I live in Houston, TX, USA and this is my first time sending something out internationally. I would go to the Postal Office, but I can't drive...although if it makes things way easier, I'll go. If I want to do this at home, though, what do I need to do? The hat is 1 pound (actually less) and I was told that if it is under a pound I could ship it without going to the postal office? But this is international so I don't know. >_< I'm pretty sure I'll have to use a box.. So I know that I get a customs thing, and pay and is that it? Can I just take the hat to the PO and get all my materials there? How long and how much would it take/be if I used the standard shipping? If any more details are needed I'll add on. :) Thanks so much. :D Thanks Jen :) if anyone else can help?

  1. You should go to the USPS website and you can print off the customs sheet that you need. There is one for items under 4 pounds and one for items over 4 pounds. While there, I would also check the Korean restrictions just to make sure you can send the hat. Sometimes countries are very picky and will end up charging the recipent all kinds of crazy taxes if it is something they do not allow. You will have to find a box or envelope, which, the Post Office should have one or the other. You will have to go there because I don't think you can print International labels online. Good luck!
