Shipping a care package to APO, AE address from Spain??

I live in spain and would like to send a care package to my American friend who is deployed in Iraq. I have his full address to send this package to but am not sure if i have to add USA to the address as i think it needs to get into the american postal system before heading out via the system you have in place over there..... After asking around and calling the post office in Spain, they don't seem to know where to send it???...........please help...........thanks Chrissie i know this may seem another silly question to add on to the original but, if i am not in the US will the Spanish Post Office have a rate they charge for an APO address, i am confused as they don't seem to know where/what country they need to charge me to send it to???.......sorry if this is obvious...Chrissie

1. You should be able to just use the full address you friend gave you. Nothing special. The link may help? Edit- You said you called the post office? Try going down there. They HAVE to know how much to charge you to send the package. If you have the address on there, it is going to get there.
2. When you address the package and put the APO address and 5 digit ZIP on the package it will go to New York or Germany fisrt and then be placed in the Army mail system. Don't worry, he'll get it.
