Is TescoDirect delivery service reliable?

I want to buy some furniture (dining table, bookcase) from Tesco. Has anyone tried their service? When buying online, what I fear most is the unpredictability of delivery. Sometimes you wait all day but no van shows up - and afterwards they charge you for "your fault". Is Tesco more reliable?

3. I used them a few times quite some time ago. I found them to be reliable on delivery times, but I noticed that a lot of the goods I received had expiry dates that I didn't like. Certainly I wouldn't have chosen such short dates from the shelf! I hate supermarkets in general these days for a raft of reasons, like the stranglehold they place on producers and suppliers, the destruction they cause to the livelihood of small business people, and the greedy ways they have generally! I prefer to support local producers where it is at all possible today.
4. I have had a few things delivered by Tesco Direct and have never had a problem - I gave my mobile to the customer services people and the driver rang me when he was 10 mins away :-)

7. You mean Tesco Direct as opposed to Tesco.com? I ordered a bike for my daughter and it turned up 2 weeks late. Other than that, they do a nice catalogue.....
