How is the job of rural carrier associate for USPS?
I was looking online for jobs with the USPS and noticed that they are hiring for a bunch of RCA positions. What is the pay for these jobs? Are these considered full time jobs or is it just a day or two a week? Is it possible to start out as a RCA and then become a city carrier? Does one use their own vehicle as an RCA or are they provided a vehicle?

- the pay depends on what state but usually between 13-17 dollars starting off you are only guaranteed 1 day a week but if you live in an area that needs rca u will probably work more than that. an rca cannot become a city carrier unless you take the city carrier test some post offices will let you do a dual work where u can do both of them but the pay will be lower and most rural carriers do have to provide thier own vehicle but it all depends on where you live i live in georgia i only work thier part time because i don't get a few days a week it takes 3-6 yrs to become full time here but good luck
- The hiring process can be very long. I took the test almost 8 months ago and passed. I am just now getting an interview in a couple days. After you pass the test it takes a month just to get your score, then you get put on a list by your score for up to two years. My pay will by 17.51 hr Considered part time, no benefits. City carrier is a different job. Some people do have to provide their own vehicle.
