I want to start a delivery business but want to know: Where do i start?

I want to start a business in a small, yet fast growing, town in Northern Virginia. Food delivery and such from places that do not already deliver. I'd also be open to running errands like picking up dry cleaning, running to the grocery store etc. The drivers would drive their own vehicles. Where do I start? How much would it cost to start up? What licenses/permits would I need? Best answer to the most information given in plain english. :) Thanks!

  1. You should have your own vehicle do that and post on the internet or an on call delivery service. I know most delivery people from carriers such as DHL,FedEx or UPS driver owns the truck and they just have a contract with them. But I don't know how to do that. You can search online to be sure. You will also need to have a permit for your car and doing business.
  2. You should start a leasing business. Not much capital is required at all. You sign the contract with the pizza places or laundry or whom ever you want to work with to offer your delivery services and buy the cars. Make the contract for 2- 3 years. Buying cars does not require any capital as you can finance them. With the contracts from big companies you can even get more than a 1000 cars financed without any problem.
