How much do UPS or FEDEX drivers make? Is it a good career to support a family?

  1. UPS and FED EX are actually going to merger into a single company. It will be called Fed Up and all of the workers will be disgruntaled post office workers.
  2. hello. One of our friends workd for UPS and he told us that he makes about $25.00 to start as a driver but it is very hard to get on he has been with UPS for about 10+ years and just now got a route. Now if you work int he warehouse you obviously don't make that much but Yes I believe that you can support a family by working at UPS. GOOD LUCK!
  3. When I left UPS in 2004, starting hourly pay was circa $15, meaning that for a person without advanced education, it's a nice rate of pay. Union members get slightly better wages and more authorized overtime, but some of the drivers I knew who were full time drivers (I was relief) earned $50K/year with overtime and holiday pay, etc. To become a driver at UPS, you have to work your way up in the organization. So, you spend a few years loading/unloading boxes and then put your name on a list and when you've been there long enough they give you a spot. It's hard work, long hours, and you may miss out on some family activities working from 8AM to 9PM, but there is a definite need for that type of worker. If you're earning more than driver starting pay when you become a driver, you get to keep your wage as a driver even if it's higher.
  4. I work as a driver for UPS-supply chain solutions and I earn $18.50 ph.We are the heavy air freight division. I started there 16 years ago when it was Emery Worldwide.I have no complaints.
