How do I go about picking up my package from the local FedEx facility?

A very important package I'm waiting for has arrived at my local FedEx facility and has been sorted, according to their tracker. However, the estimated delivery date in the tracker is still three days from now. Since I'm in a hurry to receive this item, how can I arrange to pick up the package myself from FedEx? I called their main support line and I was told that I couldn't do this until they had already made at least one delivery attempt. A brief web search, however, returned many comments from people who have done just this before any delivery attempt was made. How would I go about this? I can't find my local facility's phone number or address anywhere (Portland, OR). What all will I need to bring to prove that the package is mine?

  1. You should be able to call 1-800-go-fedex and have the package placed ON HOLD. Then, go to the station and bring a form of ID that shows your name (if it's your package, if not you can't pick it up) and that ID should have the same address that is on the package. As for finding the station's address, ask the same customer service rep. Btw, I quit there a few months ago. Best decision of my life. It's a hell hole of a company; a soulless corporation.
  2. they should have given you a claim #. use that to claim it.
