What prevents one from stealing a FedEx account number?

When FedEx packages are shipped there is an account number printed on the slip. Couldn't you just write one of those numbers down and use it on your package? Once the accounting department sees the unexpected item, your package has been delivered and charged to the wrong party! I am not trying to steal in any way - I am wondering how to protect my own small business. Thanks!

  1. Well, you could. But Fed Ex knows where the package was delivered and could easily find out where it came from and go back to the person that sent it.
