How often do US Postal Inspectors travel?
My husband wants to become an US postal inspector. I want to support him but I am worried that he would be gone often or more often than I would like him too. He says it is probably all local travelling but the testimonials on their websites sounds like they are travelling a lot all over the country...and even outside the country. Does anyone know a little bit more about the travel requirements for US postal inspectors and the career field in general? Thank you! Postal Inspectors are not postal workers. They do not handle any mail. They are federal agents, dealing with frauds, terrorism,...

- I wish that I could answer your question, but I wanted to caution you about scams to get those types of jobs. Here is a website for general career info and perhaps they offer additional (legit) resources at the bottom of the page: US occupational outlook handbook www.bls.gov/oco and search 'U.S. postal inspector' or 'mail carrier' (same field/department?).
- From what I've heard about postal inspectors, they send you to train in maryland but not for very long. He might be traveling around the state alot but probebly wouldnt go out of the country or too far away. Once you work for four years you can transfer to different places. It may be a few years before he gets sent out of the country.
