Postal Letter

How to become a mailman?

I remember seeing a USA mailman job advertisement at my local grocery a while ago. I remember it said $13.25 per hour, but how do I become one?

  1. u apply @ the post office

  3. You can apply at the post office OR, every so often the federal Postal worker exam is given at schools but I'm sure you could get an exam date from information at your local post office.... I remember taking AND PASSING the postal exam way back in the 1970's but never got a canvass letter for an opening...
  4. There r certain dates that the test is given at different places. Inquire at ur post office for listings. They do not post job openings at grocery stores or thru advertising. That is a federal job and u must apply to take the test. U must score high and veterans r given 10 points added to their test score, so it`s difficult to get that job when there is an opening. I took the test and let me tell u , u better have a good memory for what u see and read, like numbers and addresses. The pay and benefits r good because ur working for the federal govt. u also need the physical strength to tote a heavy mailbag from house to house or drive in all kinds of weather if ur a rural route carrier. Good luck.
  5. I have 2 friends that are mail carriers. The took the job because they new older mail carriers and the great benefits they retired with. UPDATE: The new carriers don't get half of what the old carriers got! If they had to do it all over again they would not have done it...this also goes for UPS drivers. However, I did hear that FedEx is a decent place to work!
