Postal Letter

How do I become a mailman?

I'm really worried about my pending move to San Francisco and getting a job. Any advice and how to apply and what the job is like? Um- You'd be worried too if the cost of rent was 3 times higher and you had to support yourself and your husband! oh yeah- and I have 71 days to go. jerks...

  1. Check out US Post Office's website for current openings. www.usps.com. Be aware that a postal jobs are very hard to get, they hardly get new vacancies. If you are interested on other government jobs, look here: www.usajobs.com
  2. log on either gov jobs or postal jobs... you can start learning to remember numbers, signs, codes etc... the test is heavy on these matters (understandably)... there r also company's that will train/teach you how to pass the postal exam... for a fee b leery
  3. There are other jobs you know. I hope you aren't moving there just to be a mailman.
  4. There are other opportunities In San Fransisco right?
  5. The tests are for permanent/career positions. The Post Office also hires casuals as temporary employees. Check on line at usps.com. If the post office isn't offering an exam, you can also be a mail carrier in a part-time/temporary position. I have heard rumblings tho' that some new carrier postions are being outsourced.
