Why are you atheists AND Christians so foolish as to ridicule or exalt a mailman?
A mailman simply does his job as his boss tells him. When he delivers to you a letter that…. …annoys you, do you judge and accuse him? …angers you, do you lash back out at him? …confuses you, do you simply make fun of him? …disturbs you, do you take him to a psychiatrist? …distresses you, do you look to him for the answers? …scares you, do you start fearing him? …fills you with joy, do you thank him? …fills you with peace, do you give him credit? …fills you with love, do you claim he is the source? A mailman simply does his job. Turn your focus to the One who is the Author of the Letter. That is all.

- You know, I can't figure out what language your question would make sense in.
- A mailman has a boss. There is no god, goddess, or pantheon. Jesus and Muhammad are in good company -- each other in the dirt after crippling psychotic breakdowns at the end of their lives.
- This is a Red Letter Day [mailman pun]!! I agree with Captain Atheism!!
- huh?
- Your point??
- Hmm.. is that 'don't shoot the messenger' or don't shoot the piano player?'
- Hey, F*ck the letters! I like his packages.
- You are right!! A mailman knocks on your door and gives you the mail--in this case a thick one called the Bible. So, if I were them I would open my door and let them do their job: delivering mails.
- You seem to be implying that atheists should be angry at god. That's... not even worth explaining, nevermind. If you don't get what's wrong with that... well...
- But the mailman is delivering things that he knows nothing about. He doesn't know what's in the letter. He may or may not agree with the contents - but we'll never know, because he doesn't know what he's delivering.
- That depends. See, a mailman delivers you a message politely so that you may read it on your own time. Some mailmen, the sort that you hint at in your post, stand on street corners and college campus centers and yell and shout their message about how everyone else is to be judged and go to hell. I don't personally like such people, because they are judging me personally, rather than the who sent the message origionally. Metaphors aside, if God wants to judge me, let him. You can f off and stop judging everyone else.
- What the hell are you talking about?
- Actually...this is so true. The Christian brings the letter...the Gospel. Then, the atheist always considers and talks about the messenger, not the message... And the Christian always seems to elevate good preachers, etc, while John the Baptist said something like "I must decrease, and He must increase". I think I understand....and totally agree! Plus, I know of a friend who came to know the Lord, that was later sent to a psychiatrist by his family/friends, who thought he had gone crazy!!! Which really shouldn't surprise anyone...Jesus' own family thought he had gone mad, after all...in Mark 3:21, etc... It makes you wonder why more mailmen aren't delivering the message, and why so many false mailmen are delivering the wrong message!
