Is it worth it to pay for a resume service? What resume service worked for you?

I am referring to services like Resume Mailman. For a fee, they will post your resume and cover letter to a high number of recruiters that you may not be able to contact on your own. They had a few customer testimonials on there, but they were a bit dated. I was wondering if anyone else has really had success with this. I have been on the major job sites, but have also read conflicting opinions on those. Some say not to put your resume everywhere (why?). I would think the more coverage you get, the better chance of landing that dream job. Which I am still searching for, by the way (smile).

1. They will post ONE resume for many jobs. You need to tailor your resume to each job you want. Stuff like that doesn't work. Unfortunately, you have to take control of the job search yourself. There really is no easy way out. The article below will provide some great information for you.
2. When you plaster your resume all over the place it looks like your desperate for a job and will take anything. It would be better to work for a placement company that will help you with your resume and place you with companies that need your experience.
3. as i said to antoher question. dont do it unless it is a last resort. go to your old college first and ask for thier assistance. also, network with former grads form yoru school. if you want free advice email it to me and i will do it. i t just needs to wait for this weekend since this week is going to be nuts for me...

5. I would advise against a resume service only because you dont have complete control over how your resume is being used. You dont know if your information is being sold to spam lists or companies for telephone and mail solicitation. Visit your local unemployment office. Not only will they help you to create a fantastic resume but they will coach you how to select jobs to send your resume to and it should never cost you one penny. Best wishes! Dont give up!
6. No a resume service is not worth it. Write your own, learn how. Get formats from other people. Resume service have no clue who you are, and charge way too much for what you get. You need to update your resume regularly, and so would you pay them again each time you need it updated? How about tailoring to a job description? You can do this quickly with Microsoft Word on a computer with a printer.
