How long should it take for my check to arrive?

Around two weeks ago, I did training for a potential job. That same night, the boss called and said that I will receive a check in the mail very soon but I wasn't hired. But every day I checked the mail and it hasn't come yet. I'm thinking that maybe they wrote down the wrong address or the mailman went to the wrong house. (There's another house with the same address as mine in the same neighborhood and sometimes I get their mail.) My friend said I should wait a month before going over there and ask. Do you think I should worry or keep waiitng?
