Was I right to complain about our mailman?
We live on a small cul-de-sac with 3 houses. One of the houses has 2 mailboxes (in-law apartment). So 4 households all together. Long story short, our mailman just sometimes doesn't deliver mail on certain days. I think we're the last street on his route or something, but sometimes he just drives through the cul-de-sac and leaves without delivering mail (my neighbor has witnessed this). Twice I even got my neighbor's OUTGOING mail. So I talked to my neighbor and we both agreed to call the post office on it. The problem is, of course, that now we face the possibility of him being pissed off that we complained and not having our mail delivered well or having mail "misplaced." My husband told me not to complain because he said it'll just get worse, but I'm sorry, I don't think it's right that he is allowed to get away with not doing his job. On an amusing note, sometimes I get my daughter's preschool teacher's mail.

- I say listen to your husband. The mailman doesn't care about your mail. he just wants a check. Getting him written up at work might lead to more drama.
- if he is not doing his job properly, you have the right to tell his supervisor/boss. This shouldn't be a problem but he made it, so if he gets p*ssed off, and starts rambling on to you just tell him 'you should've done your job in the first place'
- Who's to say it won't get worse if you do nothing? If he isn't being held accountable for his performance, he has no reason to improve it. Reporting it is the right thing. I mean, it is a felony to steal mail, so why shouldn't he get a reprimand for not delivering it. He could be stealing it and selling your personal information to n'er-do-wells. My dad used to deliver mail, and he took his job seriously. If this dork isn't, he needs to get another job. I would report it, but then, for the safety of your mail, get a PO Box anyway.
- you were right to complain...as a postman HE should know it's illegal to tamper with the mail, and by not leaving it or picking it up, he's tampering with it has the situation improved since you complained? if it doesn't improve, keep complaining...and if it gets worse, certainly keep complaining. he's not doing his job, and his employer needs to know that.
- im a mailman myself and your probably right about him being lazy on his last street and not delivering the mail. Your also right about if you complain he will get even more pissed off. Since it is around Christmas time heres what you do. Tip Him!! find him on the street tell him where you live if he doesn't already know or recognize you. Tell him you appreciate his job and everything he does for you. If the problem persists for another two weeks, then call up his supervisor, tell the supervisor your story and why you think he isn't delivering your mail. If you want just tell him the street you live on and not even your house number to keep your privacy safe!
