should I buy a virus protection program or just get a new computer?

My laptop is right now in a horrible condition. I get a pop up literly every minute. Atleast once a day my laptop just exits out whatever I'm on. My internet speed is about a third of what it should be. Now I don't know if I should just go buy a new virus protection thing to get rid of all my laptop's viruses, or is it too late for it and I should just save up for a new computer? Any advice on good anti-virus software?

  1. No dont get a new one, this is a easy problem to fix i do it all the time at my work. Download AVG,Spybot search and distroy and adware from www.download.com they are all free and work great! Good luck and dont forget to update them and run them a few times.
  2. Dont get a new labtop. Instead, install yahho or google toorbar and enable pop-up blocker. If it doesnt work, then install Spybot Search &Destroy for free. You actually get the full version of Spybot Search &destroy completely free of charge! It is dedicated to some guy's wife or daughter... Go to: Spybot-search-and-destroy.com/spybot or if this website doesnt work, go to google.com and look up Spybot Search and Destroy.
  3. God can save anything and anybody, and I would get an anti-virus protection and download it quick to get rid of all the horribleness condition that's on your computer, instead of buying a new one reinstall everything. Matter of fact cut the computer off, give it a rest. Shut it down after you download.
  4. What you should do depends upon how much valuable data you have on your computer. If there's little enough that you can back it up easily, then do that and get some help to restore the computer to a pristine state (by using the restore disk that works with it), install some AV software (you can get AVG for free), and then restore your data. If you have a lot of data and programs installed, then you can try cleaning it up. There are various cleaner programs you can download, and these may have a better chance at removing the stuff than just installing AV software. Once you've cleaned things up, then you should install some decent AV software and go from there. Unless you laptop is very old, there's no reason to go and buy a new one. Even if you do that, you should clean up your current one before passing it along to someone else.
  5. Here's the reality Rod. When a computer is not used correctly, it acts the way your computer is acting. I have a strong 3Meg Internet connection and have the ability to download all sorts of crap and nonsense on this computer, but choose not to and it has run fine for 4 years. There is nothing wrong with the computer, or your anti-virus software. You are doing things with computers that they were not meant, or built to do. You may expect to screw up every computer you own in the future until you learn to use a computer properly. Sorry, but if you want compassion, get a puppy.
  6. Don't waste your money on getting a new laptop as long as your OS is working there is no need to get any new laptop. For antivirus software there is a lot of free ones Avast,AVG Free Edition and Avira is the best one so far you can choose one of those and install it.Secondly what you need is a free spyware program Superantispyware,Spybot etc...For me i used avast and superantispyware go to www.download.com to find these two programs, install it and run a scan. After you have deleted any unwanted virus and spyware in your laptop get Advanced Windowcares from Iobit for proper configuration of your laptop.Lastly install a free program Ccleaner which will clean your internet history and remember to use it everytime you finish browsing.Last of all get Perfectdisk 30 days trial and defrag your laptop. It will definitelty helps to speed up your laptop.Follow my instructions and save your money for other uses, hope i help to solve your problem.Good luck.
