USPS Address Change - Are mails route to old address first, then forwarded?
When I submit Address Change to USPS, Is all my mails goes to my old address first, and then forwarded to new address? Or the post office re-direct the mail when they scan when they got the mail and send to new address, without stopping by my old address's post office?

- It goes to the old post office of your old address, then gets redirected from there to your new address. It will take longer than normal to get mail still being sent to your old address.
- Your mail will go to the post office at the address as shown on the mail. The postal service will then forward to you. Expect at least a week delay in getting your mail. Contact everyone ASAP with the new address.
- I agree with the other answers. From my own experience in dealing with a change of address there has always been some sort of delay in getting my mail. So I assume that the mail originally goes to the old address post office and then sent to the new address. I also went on the usps website and they didn't have any information regarding the actual process (shame on them).
- Mine goes to my old address then get forwarded to a totally different city and then sent back to me.. it takes about 10-14 days so that's y they say fill out the change of addy before u move so bills don't get delayed.
