Change of address in conjunction with taxes?
I have requested/finished the change of address form for USPS. The thing is that I am waiting for my tax money to come in, will I encounter any problems, or anything I should do? I really can't relly on the new tenants to hand over that check.

- Your income tax check most likely will not be left at the old address because your name needs to be on the mailbox. I would make sure to remove the name asap. Since the name will not be there the mail man has to bring it back to the USPS and they will then look for the change of address and/or send it back to the IRS in which case the IRS will then owe you money. If you have the same mail man everyday then I would try telling him and/or post it on the mailbox that you have moved and a change of address is availiable at the USPS. Good Luck.
- You should file a Form 8822, Change of Address, with the IRS. Link to the form: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8822.pdf
