Ever worked as a Fedex/UPS package handler? If so, how is it?
I need a job bad, and my local FedEx is hiring for package handlers. I know people that have worked for UPS and they said the package handling was one of the hardest jobs there is. However, this Fedex job is a small locations/hub and nowhere near as big as the UPS here is. Have any of you ever been a package handler at either place, and if so what were your thoughts on it?

- I worked for FEDEX for 3 months during my summer break a year ago, and it was the hardest job I have ever done. I should also say that I am a (retired) Marine and have been deployed to a whole bunch of areas, and even in combat I never worked so hard! The hardest part of being a handler is that the boxes can be up to 46" long or wide, and in some cases up to 70lbs, and the handler usually doesn't have any help because the point is that the driver won't have help so the handler/loader shouldn't NEED help. I can do 25 pull-ups, 300 sit-ups, and 100 push-ups with little trouble...but (1) 10 hour day of handling would WIPE ME OUT. It pays pretty good, but not good enough to be dead tired when you get home...That's the main reason that they are always hiring handlers / loaders. It's also not like you only load 1 truck either...usually each loader is responsible for 10 bays. Loaders do have it easier than handlers because they usually have established routes, so they can estimate how hard the day will be, but handlers don't ever know WHAT is coming in, so there is no way to plan. Hope this helps.
