What is a Hardship License? And does it allow to be used for driving for work-say delivery, FEDEX, UPS?

I have a brother who ended doing grand theft auto, but now needs to work. He is great in the automotive industry. A national auto service store is looking to hire him, but said that he needed to get his lic out of suspension. I read on the DMV that a hardship lic can be asked for by a court. If he were to get the job he would need to be a delivery driver and reciever of auto parts to certain other service sites. So I wondered if a hardship lic allowed driving for employment also, in addition to driving to and from work.

  1. A hardship licence means you are allowed to drive TO AND FROM WORK. You can't drive as a job. In my opinion... hardship licences should only be given to people who need a wheelchair (thus can't WALK to work).... and only if they have GPS tracking on the vehicle to prove that they never deviate from the rules of the hardship licence. Leave the path too/from work... go back to jail. Maybe he shouldn't have committed the felony that is preventing him from being allowed the PRIVILIDGE of driving. Driving is not a right. The government can take away the privilidge any time it wants to... too bad.
  2. No, hardship license is to drive TO and FROM work only.
