How many numbers are in a USPS tracking number???

I need to know this ASAP as I think that I am getting shafted by an EBAY store...

1. Unfortunately if you go into the usps tracking site http://www.usps.com/shipping/trackandconfirm.htm and click on the ? next to the 'Enter tracking number..' it does say tracking number length may vary! You can try the above site to see the status of your delivery though . . .. Hope this helps
