USPS tracking still showing "acceptance" after a month , buyer contacts me , file claim?

sold item on ebay and i shipped it with tracking number that i also gave the buyer the day i shipped , after a week i figure it has been delivered and everything has gone smoothly...a month and a half later the buyer contacts me telling me he still hasnt gotten it yet ....i checked the usps tracking number and it showed "acceptance" , figures...either its really lost or usps never updated and buyer taking advantage of it either way i still have to deal with this...contacts me so long after its shipped seems fishy ,so now i figure i gotta file a claim BUT i only shipped priority with NO insurance so it has just regular $100 insurance that comes with all priority ...the item sold was for $300 ,will usps cover that if i show them the paypal and ebay bill or since i have no insurance they cover only 100 and thats it.......who should file the claim me or buyer..another thing , with paypall dispute am i gonna be in the clear and not get hit with a chargeback since i have a tracking # it was domestic it was Domestic and i shipped it first week of february ...he has initiated the paypal dispute but not escalated it yet called the number, and had it filed ,they say they will call me next day .....so what am i expecting ,can they find it in a day ? how long is a normal wait for searching ....if they cant find it will i be reimbursed full amount....im really worried on paypal screwing me and charging my card even though i have shown a tracking number

  1. Domestic Priority Mail has no built in Insurance coverage. International Priority Mail does have Indemnity coverage included, but the amount of coverage is based on the weight. Could be less, or could be more than $100. If it has been more than 45 days, the buyer can not make a Paypal dispute. Again, if this was International, there is tracking to major destinations. if it is PMI, did you try to look up the tracking number on the receiving countries website? You can tell the buyer that USPS, Paypal, and you consider that the item was delivered because it has been more than 45 days, well, if it has been more than 45 days. Overall, it is difficult to give a definitive answer without knowing if the PM was Domestic or International. Tell me that, and I will finish my answer.
  2. Even though there is no insurance you can call and report it to customer service for USPS and they will document the issue for you so it can be looked into. Their number is 1800 ASK USPS (1800 275 8777)
