Which liberal arts degrees offer good employment opportunities?

It seems like all the fields of study that provide good opportunities are in the science and math fields. I was wondering if it was possible to get good employment with a liberal arts degree (English, foreign languages, art, etc.)

  1. actually, not even the science and math fields. even they are in the same boat as the liberal arts (physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, etc). what you're thinking of is the engineerings. now those offer jobs right off the bat, and the major is based around that subject area being your future career. those are the only majors like that. a physics major may just as much be unemployed as an art history major.
  2. I would look into getting an English degree. I am very pleased that I picked it as my major and am getting a great classical education. Not only will you be smart from reading so much literature, you will be required to take a business writing class (which is amazing!) and you can take such classes as newspaper writing and a class I'm in now is called technical editing where we learn things like how to mark up documents for editors and the difference between different words such as among & between. It's a lot of fun. It will prepare you for anything. AND you have to choose a concentration as well, so you could choose something like "computer programming" which could help a lot. Oh, and I'm taking a web design course for my major right now as well. FUN STUFF. So when people ask me what I'm gonna do when I get older, I say, "Whatever I want." I feel that my major has prepared me for anything. I possess great communication skills among other things! ;)
