Why does my 94 Dodge Caravan have a fuel delivery problem?
I own a 94 Dodge Caravan with 190,000 miles. It has a sparatic fuel delivery problem. Ocasionally when driving the van will loose power as if the fuel line was getting clogged. and hesitates when accelerating. When the pedal is smashed to the floor it does nothing for a few seconds and then takes off. This cycle will carry on for about 5 minutes and then is fine for the rest of the driving trip. It just had a tune up, new wires, plugs & fuel filter. I have just replaced the fuel pump and saw no improvement. The computer wiring is shot so the machine will not pick up any codes. I have tried fuel treatment and it does now seem to help. Attention car geniuses out there. What do you think is the problem? Any ideas would be appreciated. Engine is the 3.3L V6 As for the computer wiring. Them mecahinic said when they hooked the computer up to it it would not read at all. So there is something wrong with the plug to read the codes.

- Change your fuel filter or your fuel pump is bad
- if the computer wires are shot then you answered your own question, you need to fix that problem first.
- have you tried a fuel system flush.. might have to have it done seems like you have done the rest i drive a 98 caravan.. does sound like its bad gas and a fuel treatment and a filter should have got it even try a few bottle of it i always buy two anyways i add one and drive it and then add the other before i fill again do yo ubuy gas at same place all the time
- Which engine?
- with the wiring being messed up that alone could cause a problem ,but id try a throttle position sensor it may be sticking and that will cause the same thing yours is doing, without being able to get code from it, it may be hard for anyone to diagnose this one, good luck on it.
- Your explanation of the computer wiring is lacking in detail, what do you really mean. Is the diagnostic plug not wired correctly, or is the PCM just not storing any fault codes? A weak fuel pump will cause hesitation issues as will a lazy or centered O2 sensor, so this one needs some pinpoint testing that may be out of the do-it-yourselfers ability. If the computer wiring is faulty, it would likely have many stored codes and Likley not even run at all. Give a more detailed explanation of your wiring issue.
