Postal Letter

can someone solve this math problem?

if the united states postal service printed 1,000,000 stamps at 42 cents and it costs them 10 cents per stamp to produce and there were 500,000 limited edition stamps printed at a sale price of 84 cents each but costs 20 cents, which option would the united states post office make more money?why?

  1. same amount: profit of 32 cents on the regular stamps times 1 million is the same as a half million at a profit of 64 cents for the limited edition stamps.
  2. find difference between the selling price and the cost to see which one is more profitable: 1,000,000 stamps at 42 cents and it costs them 10 cents per stamp means that they make 32cents per stamp multiply by 1,000,000 sold: they will make 1,000,000 * 0.32 = $320,000 500,000 limited edition stamps printed at a sale price of 84 cents each but costs 20 cents means they make 64 cents per stamp multiply by 500,000 sold they will make 500,000 * 0.64 = $320,000 They will make exactly the same amount of money. They sell twice as many at half the profit OR they sell half as many at twice the profit.
  3. (1000000) * (42 - 10) = $32,000,000 (500000) * (84 - 20) = $32,000,000 neither becasue the profit is the same
