Should my mail been left on top of a car?
Yesterday morning, I had some friends over, and they parked in front of the mailbox, which was blocking the way for the mail lady to drive up to it and leave the mail. When my friends were leaving, about 2-3 hours later, I found my mail on top of my friends car, It was just laying on top of the car along with a package that I had ben expecting. It was all being held together with a rubber band. I know she has the right to refuse to deliver the mail if a car is blocking the mailbox, but it would of been better for her to deliver it the next day instead of leaving it on top of a car, where it would of been easily taken by a person just walking by.. If my package would of ben stolen, I would of been mad. [it was an external hard drive that I bought online for over $100] Did the postal worker do the right thing? If she does it again, can I make a complaint to my post office?

- I would make a complaint to your post office now, not wait to see if it happens again.
- she shouldn't have left it on top of the car because anything could have happen just not your stuff getting stolen but your indignity and all but next time just get your friends to park some where else that one solve the whole thing
- Well, they were trying to get you your mail in a timely manner. You may have been asked to fill out a form on where to deliver mail if it can't be left in the box or no one is home? If they hadn't left it there, you would have been upset and on here carping about not getting your mail? It could have been stolen from your mailbox also, so what does that matter? If you have an issue, call your local postmaster and I would bet you will never get your mail again if there is a car in the way, or keep quiet and be glad they left it at all instead of you being upset because it didn't come when it did. You just can't please some people. Peace.
- I don't know if your postal worker did the RIGHT THING, but I do know your friends DIDN'T do the right thing by parking in front of and blocking the mail box. Personally, I would just be glad my things got through, safe and sound. No harm, no foul! And just so you know how lucky you are, my own postal delivery person is CRAZY as all get out. When I was having some work done on my home, after the home having sat vacant for 3 years, I had the siding guys, painters, and other service personnel coming and going. No one was allowed to block the front run in, so that we could have deliveries of furniture, mail and utility people. My mail man, decided, on his own, that my house was ABANDONED and put in a STOP SERVICE notice. Took me two weeks to find my bills going late, people who were sending estimates and so on. It was a real mess! When I called the local post office and found out, I was STUNNED to say the least. I asked the supervisor to drive by my house ANYTIME and see if it looked, ON ANY LEVEL, ABANDONED and she said, she already knew my house, and NO she didn't think it looked that way at all, but my carrier was a little off, and might need another MENTAL HEALTH VACA. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I thought he needed a permanent one, but apparently, once you have a job in the postal system, you have one for life, once you pass the probation period. I didn't see him for 3 months, then POOF! He's BACK! Trust me, I'd take the mail coming to not only not getting it, but sending it back. Which your mail carrier COULD have done and little repercussion either. I have since tried talking to him, he RUNS from me, which is kinda funny, cause I have never yelled at him, or even raised my voice, even when I found out what had happened. But he is off, and well, now I just deal with it. As long as my mail comes I am happy. When it doesn't, I dial up the post office and ask them to check his truck. I know, I know, he should be retired, but around here, not gonna happen. Probably is married to the sister of the supervisor, and will have that job well after he dies with his boots on. Oh, and if he feels like it, he just drops my mail to the floor of his truck and leaves it there till he FEELS like delivering it. If I could get rid of him, I would, but so far, nothing but VACA's for the guy. Then I get super service, and he might be gone for a month, then right back to it. So enjoy your computer hard drive got through safe and sound, and was delivered, even if it was on top of your car. I might, if I felt particularly brave, have an aside with the postal worker first, and if it happened again, call the supervisor at the post office. Good luck!
- I'd complain about it now so it doesn't happen again.
