Just what is the differance between a 39 cent stamp and a forever stamp?
In meaning, when you buy a stamp, you are really paying for a service you haven't received yet. Then they raise the price. Then they come up with a forever stamp and it's good forever. I guess USPS thinks we are idiots. Both stamps cost the same. What I'm meaning is , if you buy a stamp it should be good to mail a letter any time, they had our money interest free.

- the forever stap can be used in the future when the prices raise again
- the forever stamp is supposed to be 41 cents and will be good anytime they raise the postage again. so we should all just buy a ton of them at 41 cents.
- The difference is that when you buy a however many cent stamp you are not guaranteed that that stamp will be useable in say a month. You might have to buy addition stamps to be able to use it. A forever stamp is good forever no matter how much the current postage rate is. If you had bought the forever stamp when they first came out you would have bought them at the 39 cent rate. They are now going up to 41 cents. So in effect you would have saved yourself 2 cents.
- The .39 stamp is worth ONLY .39. No matter how high the rate increases, the .39 stamp will remain at that value. However, the Forever stamp will be equal to the current postage rate, no matter how much it is. From .39 till.....50, it will still be usuable. I would say, though, do not buy the Forever stamp unless you don't mail letters on a regular basis, because if you mail letters a lot, you'd run out of them before the rate increases.
