how do I make money in the small package delivery business?

1. You probably wouldn't because the big operators will wipe you out with their economies of scale.
2. Local delivery or courier services are needed in many areas. How you go about it and price it will make a difference. In my area, there was a service (probably still is, but I just hadn't noticed) that has a drop off at major gas stations all over the metro area for local deliveries. These packages are picked up at night and delivered the next day. $6 to send some disks to my brother across town (about 30 miles) saved me both time and money.
