Postal Letter

How to send a letter to the USA using USPS?

I want to write to someone who is currently doing time in America, but the prison will only accept letters using USPS (United States Postal Service) My question is will my letter once sent from the UK go into USPS anyway (once on American soil), or will I have to do something else? Is it even possible? Thank you. ETA: It's Lancaster Correctional Institution in Florida.

  1. That's just the regular postal service. Unless you send it via Federal Express or a company like that, it will use the postal service.
  2. It will be delivered via USPS no matter where in the world you mail it from. Just make sure that you have enough postage or it won't make it to your friend. Your local post office can help you affix enough postage to guarantee it is delivered in the USA.
  3. It will absolutely be delivered by the USPS but not all state prisons allow for international mail. What state are you trying to send it to and is a state or federal prison? If you are sending it to one of the few states that won't allow international correspondence, don't worry I have a solution for that too but... one step at a time. Lancaster isn't a problem. It'll get there sent regular post from your end.
