Postal Letter

How do i retrieve United states postal mail sent to the wrong address for me...?

I've recently had someone send a large amount via moneygram to an old address of mine by accident. It's already in the mail and now I've no way to get it. I am wondering if there is any way i can go to the post office, and have them hold it there for me? I really cannot go anywhere near the house it was mailed to. As it is where a bad relationship ended and we are not on good terms.... Thanks for the help

  1. Its already in the mail so it can't be changed at the last minute. Whoever sent you the money needs to go cancel it and send it to you at another place.
  2. I believe the only one who might be able to do that would be the sender and that is iffy. Once in the mailstream, it is to be delivered to the address specified if possible, unless there is a valid forwarding order still in effect, and then it would be rerouted there. If there is no forwarding order in effect, it will be delivered to the address on the envelope. The person at that address should put the envelope back into the mailstream with a notation of addressee unknown, no longer at this address, or return to sender, etc. If they don't it may be a federal crime. It may also be hard to prove if you can't provide any evidence they received it and or opened it. I hope the sender put their return address on the envelope in case it gets returned. Good luck.
