How does Canada Post Xpresspost ship?

I am expecting a package from Souris, PEI to be delivered to me in Ottawa, ON. They claim 2-4 business days which is good to me. I just checked the tracking status and: 2008/10/16 17:10 CHARLOTTETOWN, PE Item arrived at postal facility 2008/10/15 19:32 MISSISSAUGA, ON An order has been electronically submitted 2008/10/15 16:37 SOURIS, PE Item accepted at the Post Office It took basically 24 hours to go 80km.. at that rate the package wont get to me for at least a week. Thats why I am wondering if it will be sent by air for the remainder of the trip or will it continue to go 80km a day by ground.

1. It will travel on a mix of air/ground, depending on which is required to meet the delivery time. It will take time to get to the central shipping facility, but after that it will be put in with other packages going to the next distribution centre which may be quite far away. (ie: local PEI->PEI distribution centre->mississauga distribution centre->ottawa distribution centre->local ottawa)
2. It depends on how it was sent. If the shipment was checked off as air parcel, then it will come through air. If not, then it will be shipped by ground. Either way, if it's supposed to be sent within 2-4 business days, then you'll get it less than a week. We deal with shipments with long-distance all the time and it gets here/there within the time expected (especially if in Canada and North America). If you want to know if it's by ground or air, just call Canada Post and speak to a rep. You'll need your tracking # and they'll trace it for you and let you know if it's air or ground.
