Postal Letter

New home; tried to do a "change of address", but postal service doesn't recognize new address. What do I do?

Just bought a new home, the only one on a newly constructed side street off of a main road. I tried to do an address change online, but the new address isn't being recognized by US Postal Service system. The builder listed the house under this new address, so why doesn'tt the postal service recognize it and is there anything I can do to make this address exist for the postal service? The mail carrier that comes by here doesn't know what I need to do.

  1. Get a P.O. Box to get your mail delivered. Mail is not delivered where my sister lives and that's what she had to do.
  2. I would speak directly to your postal carrier and ask for their help. ( If your mail is going to an old address, I would also talk to the postal carrier there.) Another idea is: there is a department in the post office that handles this and other stuff such as passports, etc. They can put a "notice" about your address change internally at the post office. This is what I did and it worked.
  3. ,go directly to the post office and speak to the manager. explain to him/her what your problem is and follow her/his advice. yea, a p.o.box till it gets straightened out. good luck to ya
  4. Go to the post office serving your area and talk to the post master. Take along a map showing where you live and mark down addresses nearby that you know are getting mail.
  5. I would say that your new address is not yet in the address system for the Post Office, especially since you say that it is a new street and the first house on it. Talk to your local PO and ask them to add your street and number range. It shouldn't take too many days for address management to get it added to the carriers scheme and then the system will recognize the new address.
